How Much Debt Is Too Much Debt? - Blog Entry

08 Nov 2006 09:11 AM

Thanks for your comments. I agree that it is worth sacrificing instant gratification for the big picture. Too many people today do not understand the concept. I have watched people struggle under the heavy load of debt, and see how it limits their choices and plans in the long run. While carrying debt seems to be the norm, and a mortgage is really almost unavoidable, it is an exhilarating feeling to have no debt. Thanks for sharing your story Anna.

What You Need to Know About RSV Season - Blog Entry

31 Oct 2006 08:05 PM

One of the complications of RSV is bronchiolitis, which can actually be caused by two or three viruses. The bronchiolitis is actually the wheezing, the blueness around the mouth and coughing. My son got this--he didn't run a fever or anything, just started wheezing. He was about five months old, and it wasn't RSV season anymore (It was May.) I was very cautious, and was surprised. The side effects can last up to a year or longer. He had reoccurant episodes of the wheezing, difficulty breathing and other serious symptoms every time he caught a cold for a year after his initial onset. It was a tough year. Take the time to do everything you can to prevent your children from contracting this. Do not let people tell you you are being overcautious. You don't want to go through this. It is scary!

Emergency Kits Make Great Christmas Presents - Blog Entry

27 Oct 2006 07:57 AM

That is a good point. I know I have listed those documents in other blogs, but they slipped my mind when I was writing this. You can make copies to take in your emergency kit, if you are not comfortable carrying them with you. This will help when you are trying to recover the information. Thanks so much!

Mental Health Day - Blog Entry

24 Oct 2006 11:53 AM

I used to take the occassional mental health day while I was working. This really helped me to refocus and work harder. I haven't been able to figure out how to do that as a mother to two young children. I get a mental health evening or morning or afternoon, but never a whole day.

Anemia in Pregnancy - Blog Entry

23 Oct 2006 05:49 PM

Thanks for this article. I was just diagnosed anemic today. This is my third pregnancy, but my first time dealing with this. I appreciate the added insight. I guess I'll just have to deal with the side effects of taking those wonderful iron pills. (Yuck!)

Strengthen Your Marriage with Temple Attendance - Blog Entry

23 Oct 2006 05:42 PM

I agree that you are blessed whenever you attend the temple. It can be difficult to find a sitter. I know that I had a hard time when we lived three hours from the temple. Some couples will take their kids with them, and one will watch them at a park while the other attends, and then they will swap. This didn't work for us, since our kids handle about three hours in the car a day, and then they scream. Everyone should go as much as they can though.

Breaking the Overdraft Cycle - Blog Entry

20 Oct 2006 07:50 PM

I agree the best advice is never to start down the path. It is important to balance your checkbook/account regularly, and not to rely on ATM balances. It is also important to avoid going to check cashing places, because they start a very similar cycle which is hard to break. Thanks for your comments.

Teaching Teens about Commitments to Contracts - Blog Entry

18 Oct 2006 05:27 PM

I really think that one of the biggest disservices you can do to your child is to rescue them from the consequences of their actions. Sometime you won't be there to stop the consequences, and consequences at twenty something are a lot worse than consequences as child or a teenager. Letting children learn that they can make poor choices, and that those choices have negative results will help them to make better choices in the future. Thanks for your comments.

Prizes for Reading - Blog Entry

16 Oct 2006 11:38 AM

I love to read as well, and it is something I am trying to instill in my children. My library offers an adult reading program along with the children's in the summer. It is more of a raffle, but still prizes. I've never been good about turning in my books though.

Five Reasons to Begin Planning for Retirement Now - Blog Entry

Having the money automatically deducted from your paycheck is a great tool. You don't miss it, if you don't see it. Thanks.
