School- Imposed Nap Tme For Kindergarteners - Blog Entry

16 Oct 2006 11:31 AM

Personally I think it is ridiculous to ask my daughter to nap. She gave up her naps two years ago, and I dread the sending her to kindergarten next year. If they truly feel that they need to be there all day (which I don't agree with) then why waste that valuable time with a nap. None of her friends nap either. I think the problem would be solved by simply converting to half day kindergarten, but that is another debate.

Congratulations! Once the baby is a little older you will be surprised at how quickly you become used to carting two around as well. I am expecting my third, and I expect it will slow me down some. Two kids are a lot of fun. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion of using frozen veggies as an ice pack. I've found that peas or blueberries or corn make excellent icepacks. The smallness of the objects allow it to mold better to the area you are applying. Thanks for your comments.

Teaching Your Children to Use a Grocery Budget - Blog Entry

Thanks. I know what you mean about his tastes needing to broaden. My husband keeps telling me that he could cut our grocery budget, but then he adds that we would be eating a lot of Ramen noodles. It is is important to teach about finding a good nutritional balance as well. Thanks for the comments.

Five Safe Alternatives for Halloween Activities - Blog Entry

My church (ward) currently does a combined trunk or treat with another group. Before we moved here, we had a carnival and then a trunk or treat. The kids loved it. One year as a child, I participated in a floating Halloween party. It was a lot of fun, and I didn't miss the Trick or Treating.

My daughter loves Halloween, but doesn't know anything about Trick or Treating. It can still be a fun, harmless holiday, minus the danger that can come from trick or treating.

Thanks for your comments!

Planning for an Evacuation - Blog Entry

You raise an excellent point. It is important to consider the dangers that can come with evacuation, which include wild animals being displaced. This could make a hike much more interesting/dangerous, especially with small children. Thanks for the input!
