My husband has been chosen for jobs because he was an Eagle Scout. It is great that your sons are so involved in the scouting program. The worst part is the uncomfortable feeling of too much milk, but I never had to worry that he wasn't getting enough. It is true that you should support your spouse through the time that they are not attending church. My husband's aunt was active for years and years before her husband joined just a few years ago. The family never expected it to happen, but they were all happy when he did. It seemed like a miracle. I've found that the most important factor with family home evening is consistency. Once it becomes a habit for eveyone it is a lot easier to do. A basic structure should include an opening and closing prayer, songs, and a lesson. We like to have an activity (something fun) afterwards as well. I don't feel like driving very far away to make a few dollars with gas prices as high as they are. It is fun to go out and do the shops and I've enjoyed the restaurant shops the most. One problem I have is that neither my husband or I drink and there are several shops that require purchasing alcohol. I'm always sad because they are at the nicest restaurants around here. Oh well! I think that comfort foods do help us emotionally, and that at stressful times we tend to turn to them more. That is why it is so important to include them in food storage. Since most people won't be using their food storage unless they are in a stressful situation, it makes sense to plan for comfort items. Thanks for sharing! Canning Food - Blog Entry21 Jun 2006 01:36 PM It can be scary to do it on your own, especially the first time. I would suggest trying to find someone who already cans and have them show you how. You do need to be careful and make sure that you do it correctly, otherwise you do run the risk of your food becoming contaminated.
