Why Store Food? - Blog Entry

Moving your food storage can be difficult. We usually try to eat as much as possible and then give away what we can't move. I have had times when knowing we have that extra food has really helped our family. I really have found that it does help me to save money as well.

Then this sounds like a good plan, especially in the summer months. Thanks for the clarification.

In the areas that I live they have a system in which the power company will offer you predictability in your monthly statements. They look at the past year's bills and then take the average plus an estimated amount more because your power usage may go up. If you end up using more power than estimated, then at the end of the year, you pay them the difference. If you don't use as much power as they estimate, then they keep the difference. I looked into this closely both times we have been offered this option. I can handle the differences in our budget, and I would much rather not just give my money to the power company. The estimated monthly cost for our pwer bill was about $110.00 per month for this year. My highest powerbill this year has been about $104.00 and most have been well below that. I think that you need to look closely at what your company is offering and make sure there is no catch.

The plan that you mentioned sounds pretty straight forward, but do you pay the same per unit cost as the people who do not purchase in advance? Many cell phone companies that are pay as you go charge a higher rate per unit. Is the power company doing the same thing?

The comparison and daily usage is a nice feature to keep track of how much energy you use, but it might not be worth it. If the cost is the same, then I might switch to that plan, otherwise I would just keep doing what I do.

While I was at BYU I never had the chance to take a class from him, but he did come as a guest lecturer. His classes never worked with my schedule, I wish they would have. The lecture he gave was awesome! I have enjoyed everything I have read by him!

I totally agree with that statement. I would much rather have someone come, then have them stay away because they smoke. Members really do just want you to come back.

Thanking Mothers - Blog Entry

I also have a mother-in-law who is a great example to me. I am grateful for the many examples I have been blessed with in my life. I have friends who had other women step in and be the examples in their lives, when their own mothers had passed away or made poor choices. In a way I think we need to honor all the women in our lives who have helped us.

As I've gone through the few years I have been married, this advice has really hit home. Several times I've thought of it, stepped back from the situation and really found something that I could do to change the way that I was behaving. After that our relationship has always gotten better.
