It sounds as if your son has a great opportunity to share! May he keep educating others and bring you a lot of nachas, pride! Noah's Embarrassment - Blog Entry15 Dec 2006 12:00 AM Good observation Chana. The Torah does not say that Noah is the first Jew, but the point of the story is to teach principles of basic decency which are incumbent on all mankind. The source is Jewish, but the principle is universal Websites for Writers: Deborah Ng's Job Leads - Blog Entry30 Oct 2006 11:57 PM Yes...I really love Deborah Ng's site as well...and let's not forget the place we talk to her: www.wahm.com. I recommend the "Wahms who Write" board to anyone who is starting their writing career (especially WAHMS). The networking and support is great there, and people are very generous with giving leads. Living with Stereotypes: All Jews Have Money - Blog Entry28 Aug 2006 06:35 PM that's right: Jews don't have money where I live! Anyone who has visited Israel will see that the idea that Jews are rich is just a stereotype. While many of us here live decently and on less, still, the bar/bat mitzvahs here are low-key and home-style. I agree with you, Jamie, that the extravagance that goes into these affairs is unneccessary and hurtful to those who are not wealthy. I hear that many rabbis are trying to remedy this situation. Living with Stereotypes: I'm Not Truly Jewish? - Blog Entry27 Aug 2006 05:45 PM Jamie--You are bat mitzvah! It must have been terrible going through this, and the unkindness of the people in your Sunday School class is inexusable. Maybe it would help knowing that you are bat mitzvah, whether you had a ceremony or not. Every Jewish girl who reaches 12 is automatically bat mitzvah. The Husband as Head of Household - Blog Entry27 Jul 2006 09:35 PM I respect the idea that a man is the head of the household, but I think that, to be fair, if a woman also brings in some money should have a say on how the money should be spent. Also, if she works full time, her husband should help around the house or she should be able to use some of her income for household help. A woman who takes care of the home and works can suffer terrible stress as well if these agreements are not made... Myths About Gender Prediction - Blog Entry26 Jul 2006 09:57 PM I also want to be surprised, but I always wonder. Many people told me, when I was pregnant with my son, that it was going to be a girl because my face was round. But it is round anyway! People are saying it again....but it doesn't matter to me, as long as the baby is healthy (although, yes, the curiosity is bugging me...but I wouldn't look at the ultrasound screen, so I brought it on myself!) Are you expecting Patty? If so, may it be at a good time! Can You Bring on Labor? - Blog Entry25 Jul 2006 09:42 PM Hi... I found that walking did indeed speed up the process, but as Pattie mentioned, only because the labor had just begun. I was having 10 minute apart contractions for a day and a half, so my husband took me for a strenuous walk up and down hills! It certainly brought the contractions closer together, but then they got further apart again (anyway, they let me in the hospital). Walking recieves mixed reviews, but this article is great! Spotting During Pregnancy - Blog Entry22 May 2006 07:57 PM I did a lot of searches just to find the same amount of information you compressed into one article. Congratuations, and thank you!
