It was very frightening. Like you, we thought there was something terribly wrong. Like you, we also tried to comfort her, but it only made it worse. In fact, sometimes she would try to get away from us and fall down! Eventually, after a lot of reading and talking to the pedi, we learned to just leave her alone. We would just go into her room and make sure that she was safe. We would just sit there until the episode passed, not touching her or talking to her, but close enough to step in if she hurt herself. When we started handling them this way, the terrors got much shorter and less dramatic. Eventually, she outgrew it. Your son will, too! As scary as it is for parents, the kids don't even remember it. He's okay, mom! OK, breasts are sexualized-- and that's OK with people? Our kids can walk through the mall on any given day and see Victoria's Secrets models in their undies-- No Problem.
