Is the Republican Party the Only Choice for Christians? - Blog Entry

02 Nov 2008 08:32 PM

Pattie, I haven't gotten the impression of Republicans that you have. But it might be we live in different parts of the US(?) I respect your blog is based on your personal perception of things and that's fine. Jesus didn't speak on a lot of issues that were covered in the old testiment. It didn't mean He didn't abide by them! To discredit what the Book of Romans says on the issue of homosexuality (as one example) is to discredit the validity of the New Testiment. That of course is a whole other debate that has gone in circles on the forums in the past.

Kudos on getting our attention though and getting us thinking and talking. This is a critically important election and as Christians we should pray regardless of who may be elected. For Republicans, wouldn't it be awesome if Obama did realize the sanctity of unborn life and change? It's possible just as God changed the heart of Pharoh, he can change the hearts of current candidates as well. Same goes to Christian Democrats; wouldn't it be great to see God touch the heart of McCain to see the importance in issues on your side too. Obviously God's ways are perfect and HE knows what is ultimately best for our nation, knowing the future.

A couple years ago I blogged here at Families and wrote a blog on "What to do with post election frustrations". You can cut and paste this link: http://christian.families.com/blog/what-to-do-with-post-election-frustrations Perhaps if your guy doesn't get picked, you'll find some hope and peace in my old blog.

The Confessions of a Pro-Life, Right Wing Conservative, Part 1 - Blog Entry

02 Nov 2008 08:14 PM

Hi Val!

I am one of "those" who look at the candidate's position on unborn life. I'm undecided on the death penalty issue but believe in protecting the lives of unborn? Why the difference? Because, an unborn child is innocent and helpless; without voice and it should be natural that we as humans wish to help the defenseless. Just my opinion of course--and like I said I'm not decided with the death penalty. It makes me uncomfortable though.

I have little respect for a candidate who doesn't value the life of a human yet to take their first breath; a citizen in the making. I have NO respect for a candidate who supports partial birth abortion as it is nothing short of infantcide in my opinion.

I agree there is more to consider in a candidate than whether they're prolife or not. After all, if we had 2 candidates who supported the right to terminate unborn babies, what would we do? To me, where a candidate stands on life is important, but whether they believe they are accountable by the God of the Bible is more important to me. A candidate with no fear of God would be the most detestible.

It's been a year since I wrote this. I forced myself to watch the "Attacked 911" clip at the end. Lest we never forget.

Wonderful series Valorie, and to ASL, I don't see it nessisary to divide God up by name within this blog since Valorie was focusing on the each of the names of God by His character.

For Love or For God? - Blog Entry

As I ran blog this by my friend prior and she questioned if I mentioned that she was at a time in her life where she had slid a bit off course. Granted she loved the Lord and did wish to serve Him, she was primarily seeking her own way. The Lord was speaking to her heart reeling her back. Perhaps I should have emphasised that part more--but I was too excited to write the outcome :). You're right Swellen, it is not often this happens. Thank God it did.
