To Smack or Not to Smack? What is the Answer? - Blog Entry

26 Sep 2006 12:16 PM

I appreciate this blog Megan. It was very balanced and true. I have no objection to giving my child a slap on the hand should he put a metal object into a power supply. I believe there is a huge difference between this and a belt lashing or a punch. I have been able to do this calmly an collectively and have only had to do it once to get my serious point across. Spanking also loses effectiveness. There are a lot of parents out there that are affraid to spank because of society's changing views. I know moms who spank yet say that they don't for this reason. I think too the smack that goes on a child's bum is MUCH softer than the smack an angry spouse might give--that of course all depends on the parent. Most of the examples you've provided I would agree are abusive. I love your term "reformed smacker" :).

Saying You're Sorry - Blog Entry

Saying your sorry is such a humbling act. If someone doesn't want to say it or doesn't mean it, I know what you mean by saying it shows or can sound cold.

Don't Feel Like Going to Church? - Blog Entry

Funny that I've dealt with laziness about church so much after writing this blog. I guess perhaps I'm being tested? I wrote this blog over a month prior to it's release. When I don't feel like going to church, it keeps popping into my mind.
