What is the Answer? - Blog Entry26 Sep 2006 12:16 PM I appreciate this blog Megan. It was very balanced and true. I have no objection to giving my child a slap on the hand should he put a metal object into a power supply. I believe there is a huge difference between this and a belt lashing or a punch. I have been able to do this calmly an collectively and have only had to do it once to get my serious point across. Spanking also loses effectiveness. There are a lot of parents out there that are affraid to spank because of society's changing views. I know moms who spank yet say that they don't for this reason. I think too the smack that goes on a child's bum is MUCH softer than the smack an angry spouse might give--that of course all depends on the parent. Most of the examples you've provided I would agree are abusive. I love your term "reformed smacker" :). What is Age Appropriate Sexual Development in Early Childhood?
