My husband's family..his mom and her mom (his grandma who I mentioned in this blog) especially, are not big kissers. My family is. His family rarely hug either, it makes me kind of sad. They love each other, but they show it completely different than what I am used to. My husband, however, is a big kisser and hugger, so I am thankful for that! Recruiting Tool: Obsession, the Movie - Blog Entry27 Sep 2006 05:58 AM My 17 year old nephew (just started his senior year in high-school) just enlisted in the Marines for after high-school. He is very excited about it, and no matter my opinions on the war, I am proud of him. I am also so very nervous about the thought of him being sent to a war zone when he is barely 18 years old, but this is what he wants to do. Thanks for all of your blogs on this topic. Are Teachers Underpaid? - Blog Entry25 Sep 2006 08:46 AM Hi Diane! I am assuming you live somewhere where the cost of living is a bit higher, because I am stunned that new teachers are making $35,000 starting out! LOL! That was what I was making after almost ten years of teaching and several hours towards my master's degree. I agree though teachers are most likely not going to be paid as much as others in similar occupations, it really does stink that this is true! I so wish someone could figure out how to change this. A Sleep Later Strategy for Your Preschooler - Blog Entry25 Sep 2006 08:42 AM It has been working well so far. Some days I do sleep in until 7:00 and then get up and workout while my hubby gets the boys ready for the day. A lot of the time though, I do get up around 6:00 or 6:30 and go down and workout. This is nice for me because I can workout without any interruptions. I like having that free time in the morning before the boys get up, so while there are days when I sleep in(like today!), I do often get up before my preschooler to do some things for myself. LOL! It is just nice knowing that now I have this option, I can actually get some sleep or I can do somethings for myself before my oldest wakes up. Before, I was up at the crack of dawn with a four year old and not able to complete things before he woke up. This has just been a wonderful strategy for us. Thanks for your comments! I utilized it a lot when I was teaching and purchased a few social skills books from them. I am so glad that you found it! I hope you find it as wonderful as I did. Why I Choose Public School for My Children - Blog Entry20 Sep 2006 09:53 AM Thanks for your responses everyone! Heather, you are right. I am willing to pay more in property taxes also, if that means an improved public school system for my kids. I also firmly believe that in order to get an overall great education, a child needs to have a parent that is involved in it. Thanks! Happy Ending to the Newborn Baby Kidnapping - Blog Entry20 Sep 2006 08:58 AM I live about three hours from where this happened. My in-law's live very close to this area. It was on the news down here a lot and I am so glad that the kidnapper was finally found and the baby is safe! It was a horrible story with a happy ending! Why I Choose Public School for My Children - Blog Entry20 Sep 2006 08:56 AM Thanks for your response, Valorie! Parenting Predicament: Kissing and Your Preschooler - Blog Entry20 Sep 2006 05:08 AM Hi Brandie! Oh, I will take kisses when I can get them also. But the way he wanted to kiss me was not something that was our normal way of kissing. I wasn't comfortable with it, so that is why I stopped it. Then when he shared that he wanted to kiss me like Daddy, I knew that we needed to talk about the difference between a mommy and Daddy kissing and a little boy and his mommy kissing. The funny thing is, now since I wrote this, my son has been asking my DH and I to kiss all the time, like he is trying to see just what the difference is! It cracks us up! The good news is, he is back to giving me his kind of smooches and I will hang on to those for as long as he is willing to kiss me! Thanks for your response! |
