What you should look for in a new computer.

Trying to pick a new computer is hard, but I will help you decide. I have saved my money up for a new DELL "xps 420" a gaming computer that runs with an operating system called vista. This selection is just me. I play games such as BIOSHOCK or COUNTERSTRIKE. If you are into designs, art or music, then you are looking for an apple computer. Apple is a company that is less flawed than a PC but much more expensive. Apple computers are much more expensive for a big reason: they have no competitors. If you look at PCs they have many competitors, this is why a computer that has worse components in an Apple computer is more expensive than a PC with much better running components (components=physical hardware that makes up the interior of the computer). PC have many major competitors such as: Alienware, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and many more. What you want to look for in a computer is a good processor (atleast 2.2 ghz) this is an important component because all your syste funcions go though this. Also, get more GHZ then Cache, this is because the more ghz you have, the faster it is, where as the Cache is just for loading up previously used programs, 4 is enough, and 8 is great. R.A.M. (which stands for Random Access Memory) is also quite important you want a good ammount of R.A.M because this component retreves information from your hard drive over and over again, and the more you have, the faster it does this, the faster your computer is (I suggest your get 800 mhz R.A.M. sticks because they are faster then the ordanary 677 mhz). The Hard drive (otherwise reffered to as Read Only Memory or R.O.M. This component stores your beloved files such as marriage videos, and itunes song, documents so the bigger you have the more videos of your kids you can save. Also, you may see something called RPMs next to the storage capacity. This has to do with the speed of which the data is saved to your computer so the higher the RPM the faster you can save you data.), and if you are into gaming (like me) the graphics card (usually the most expensive component) state of the art games like BIOSHOCK need a minimum video card of "128mb NVIDIA 6600" which is usually about 100 dollars and they get much more expensive. Although 126 is minimum, if I were you, I would get a LARGE card, like an NVIDIA 8800 GT, GTX, or even the ULTRA for your extreme gamer, you want this card so everything runs properly, this is because with the minimum, it will become "Laggy" (Slow, Shakey, or Skipping) and your FPS (frames-per-second) will drop like a rock, making this "Lag".  So, to recap, If you are into games, business, or low price, go for a pc. If you are looking for something that helps you express your creativity and talent in art, movie making, and music then go for a mac.
