Kids and Earaches - Blog Entry

05 Jun 2006 08:12 AM

It sounds like your children, Andi and Heather, don't get the "average" childhood ear infections! I agree that in your cases, a doctor's visit is probably in order. It just goes to show that every case (and every child!) is different! I never got an ear infection as a child; my brother had them frequently.

A New Parent's Surprising Look at Birth Control - Blog Entry

Withdrawal is safer than all that other stuff? Remembering what I learned in health class back in high school, I've heard that it's the LEAST effective form of birth control -- you may avoid the ejaculation but not the release of pre-ejaculate. And just to back up my fuzzy memories, I found this site: http://www.sexinfo101.com/bc_withdrawal.shtml (The ads are on the racy side, but the information is straightforward.)

The Benefits of Green Tea - Blog Entry

30 May 2006 05:49 AM

You know, Bonnie, I believe it does, but I don't know 100% for sure. I've seen green tea extracts, and even tasted a few (they're not bad!) and I've heard the claims that they have the health benefits of 50 million cups of tea in one serving, or something like that... I'll look into it and see what I come up with!

I couldn't agree more... ALWAYS follow the directions on any medication you give your pets... or yourself or your family, for that matter! :)

Can Muslims be Vegetarians? - Blog Entry

This was very interesting to read, Misty, thank you! I have a friend who is allergic to the hormones in beef, and gets a massive migraine any time she eats beef that isn't organic! (And in another coincidence, I was just reading up on the Rice Diet and pondering giving it a try myself!)

Don't Worry, Be Swingin'! - Blog Entry

I love swing dancing! For my 21st birthday, my best friend took me out to a swing dancing club in Philly and we had a blast... and my dance partners were very kind about all the times I stepped on their feet. ;)

Good luck to all the Familes.com pups who enter!

I'm hoping my brother will enter his gorgeous AmStaff Lily Biscuits. She's so striking! Plus, I'd love to see a dog I know personally on TV. ;)

Grade Your Dog Food - Blog Entry

22 May 2006 07:54 PM

As far as I can tell, Lynda, this checklist is NOT affiliated with any dog food manufacturer. It takes or awards points based on ingredients that are known to be good or bad. Sad to say, most veterinarians are encouraged to reccommend certain foods by the companies that make those foods. There doesn't seem to be much of an "independent" source for dog food rating out there. If you happen to find a good one, please pass it along!

And as far as what "list" you are referring to -- I guess you're talking about something not posted here. The only dog food I graded was the one I give my own dogs -- Purina One Healthy Weight Management -- which as far as I know hasn't harmed any dogs. The dangerous food your referring to is (I'm guessing) Diamond Pet Foods, which were recalled last December-ish?
