Heart Attack Survivors and Episodic Chest Pain - Blog Entry

That would probably scare the stuffing out of me... and send me running for the doctor/emergency room/phone to call 911! I hope they don't hit TOO often...

In the Company of Dogs Early Holiday 2008 Catalog - Blog Entry

That iScoop shirt would go really well with the iPoop doggie t-shirt I saw the other day... Moose and Lally and I could match!

What is Flehming? - Blog Entry

10 Sep 2008 02:07 PM

Good question! I kind of got the impression that flehming is a sign of a strong/interesting smell. I've never heard any stories about flehming being related to an illness (like a cancer sniffing dog, or something), but that doesn't mean it isn't possible!

Dogs Who Fake Limps for Sympathy - Blog Entry

My parents' dog Becca is a VERY DRAMATIC limper. Part fake, part drama, I think... I remember one time she came home with a bandage on her leg for a dewclaw injury, and she would very deliberately swing the bandaged leg out slooooooowly as she walked. What a character she is!

Survivors of Melamine Poisoning - Blog Entry

27 Aug 2008 12:31 AM

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses, kitkatmom. I'd suggest trying the American Veterinary Medical Association to help find folks with survivors of melamine poisoning... they've probably got the best list of who/what happened/where. Also, there is a settlement in the works for pets/owners who were affected, so you may be able to at least recover some of the money. Good luck!

Help For Hairballs - Blog Entry

Is that the kitten you were telling us about, Samual? :)

I didn't say that EVERY cat gets hairballs, or that EVERY long haired cat will have them. I said they CAN get them.

Fish Pedicure - Blog Entry

I read an interview with the owners of this Virginia spa -- they said that when they did group pool sessions with the doctor fish, some folks got lots of attention and some folks didn't. Kind of embarassing to have the worst feet and all the fish show up to feast! :)

Bad Situations: Loose Dogs vs. Leashed Dogs - Blog Entry

26 Jul 2008 02:42 PM

I agree 100% that owner responsibility can prevent a LOT of problems. Yes, animals can sometimes act unpredictably to human eyes (I'm thinking of the little dog who attacked Moose at the dog park last year) but training and proper behavior (like using a leash for walks and staying close to your dog when you're in public) can really help prevent accidents. *sigh* The poor little dog and owner. I'm glad the pup survived!

Humor is definitely my first reaction in situations like these! Between the cats-only boarding facility and Captain Pudding Butt, I face these situations a lot....... ;)
