New Uses for Washcloths - Blog Entry

19 Apr 2008 12:50 PM

Depending on how many you have (and how soft they are) you could make an entire throw blanket out of old washcloths! Though if they're kinda scratchy, maybe it'd be a better picnic blanket than a bed blanket. ;) Alas, I only have one washcloth in the house, myself.

Signs They Send After They're Gone - Blog Entry

For the first few weeks after my Miko died, I would swear I heard him breathing right behind me. Scared me out of a nap a few times (you know that haze just as you're falling asleep?). I had a very hard time making the transition from Miko to Lally -- I went and got her just three days after Miko died and for a long time was angry that she wasn't as "good" as he was... of course, given time she's become an awesome dog in her own right!

And speaking of sending hellos, my dad is sure that his mother sends birds to say hello. The first one was I think the spring after she passed away, he was mowing the lawn and a bird came and sat on the fence and stared at him the whole time. :)

Treating Whiteheads Naturally - Blog Entry

Great advice, Sara -- I keep a bottle of tea tree oil in my bathroom at all times. It's been great for cleaning up the various cuts/scrapes/bites I've earned in my work at the cats-only boarding facility. :)

Pick the Healthiest Water - Blog Entry

That's awesome, deedee! I've been trying to cut back on soda myself -- I'm down to one diet soda per day (most days) -- and drink more water/tea instead.

Pick the Healthiest Water - Blog Entry

I count those as drinking water, myself... though I often end up diluting them further. I tend to use half a packet in a bottle of water, rather than a full one. (I also tend to dilute regular teas and juices, too -- I drink more water, and it's still flavorful!)

The Personal Pet Therapy Project - Blog Entry

Welcome back!!! I'm sure your crew will be great therapy pets. With my grandmother's dementia, one thing she focused greatly on was my dogs. Had they been fed? Did they need treats? Did they need to go out? Moose spent a lot of his snoozing time on the couch with my grandmother while she watched TV or did crossword puzzles.

Too Many Baby Boomers are Facing Alzheimer's - Blog Entry

Crosswords and other puzzles ARE good brain exercises, and good as part of a healthy lifestyle. Dunno if just the puzzles will prevent Alzheimer's, though!

First Aid: Torn Nail or Dewclaw - Blog Entry

Letting the nail grow out will take time -- if you have a pair of toenail clippers, you can snip off the bent part and that will relieve some of the discomfort. If the broken nail stays on, it can still catch on things and be pretty painful! Good luck!
