The Secret Language of Boogers

03 May 2006 01:52 AM

Yeah, I know, it's gross - but I'm a booger checker from way back. Maybe I'm desensitized to it by now? :)

Instant Messaging - The next security threat

28 Apr 2006 11:53 AM

So how do you know if an incoming file transfer or link is a fake? They're not really going to come from an address like "fakeoutsite.com"... so how can you tell?

And to stick up for instant messaging a little bit, if people are smart about using it, it's not OMG scary! It's another good way to keep in touch with friends and family. I'm a little concerned that by focusing only on the negatives, people might be scared away from using the services. (And anybody trying to hack into my IM conversations is going to find it incredibly boring!) :)

Food Allergies

27 Apr 2006 04:13 PM

Yikes, Andi! Maybe there's some common additive/preservative between the three? Or maybe a common spice? Your poor baby girl! I hope you figure it out soon!

I was lucky enough to grow out of my most important (to me) allergy -- dogs and cats! The other stuff (pollen, penicillin, mold, etc) I can live with. :)

Health Concerns With Regard to Ear Piercing

13 Apr 2006 11:14 PM

Having never been a mother myself, I can never understand why a person would get their baby's ears pierced! Baby bling... *shaking head* :)

Healthy Fast Food Part 1: Wendy's

13 Apr 2006 12:44 PM

Wendy's is my favorite fast food place... and I love their chili! (Back in my Weight Watchers days, I used to save up points for a Wendy's visit -- a Single (no cheese) and medium fries was 17 points!)

Legitimate Work at Home Opportunity: Writing

13 Apr 2006 12:41 PM

I get the majority of my freelance writing work from Elance (www.elance.com). You do have to pay to join, but with everything in one place, it helps me keep the financial stuff organized. (And I more than paid for my first membership payment with my first job.)

Home Business: Tips for Selling on EBay

13 Apr 2006 12:39 PM

It doesn't hurt to make a few eBay purchases before you start selling - that way, you can understand the process from both sides. I tend to shop more than I sell on eBay, but the few things I have sold have all done better than I'd hoped. :)

Being "The Blood Sugar Police." A Job I Didn't Apply For

12 Apr 2006 11:22 AM

I live with my diabetic grandmother, and I feel the same way a lot of the time. "Did you take your medicine?" "Shot time!" After so many years with the disease (I was 8 when she found out she had Type 2 diabetes!) I think she's starting to get a little lazy with the policing.

Phishing - How not to get caught

11 Apr 2006 10:38 PM

I know that with sites like eBay and PayPal, actual emails from them use your real name and fake emails say "Dear Valued Customer" or something like that. Knowing the email policy of your bank and other sites you join can help you avoid falling for scams!
