And he isn't the first doctor we have had to do this. There is significant evidence that the vaccine will wear off when people are at highest risk - as adults. And there is also a false sense of security that comes with the vaccine. A neighbor of mine openly encouraged her child to play with my infectious child because he was vaccinated and protected. What if her child becomes ill and spreads the disease to someone at risk before he realizes he is sick? The beneficial thing about a controlled exposure to chicken pox is that it gives the family time to prepare, it protects those outside the home by not accidentally exposing others and it provides far more immunity than the vaccine with equal or fewer potential side effects. Additionally there is some new evidence to suggest the pox vaccine actually produces higher incidents of shingles than the natural disease. In fact, there is currently a case pending where a family is being held criminally liable for acting as a file sharing network and they literally don't even own a computer!!! Most of the RIAA's presumptions have long since been proven false but they persist. They stand to make a lot of money through frivolous lawsuits.
