Pamper Yourself - You're Worth It! - Blog Entry

I like how you refer to it as a tune-up! That also brings me to the point that stress cannot be fixed with just a short vacation, relaxing bath, etc. It has to be a long-term thing. It has to be a commitement that you practice every day - every minute! Coping with stress with just a little tune-up every so often will temporarily relieve your stress, but it's going to come back. Learning how to cope with stress on a constant basis is best for you and your health. Believe it or not, it begins with learning to breath. Try looking up how to do deep breathing exercises. It's amazing what happens when you learn how to breath!

Stress: How much is too much? - Blog Entry

Well, since I took the time to take the test, I'll share my score - 311. With so many young deaths and murders in my family it has me stressed! However, I have learned to cope and am doing so. It is so important to have support from those you love, and a strong-willed mind to get through it! It is tough at times, but as a youngster I learned, time never heals, only people do.

Home and Family Severe Weather Tips - Blog Entry

Great information, Sherry! I always worry about the weather here in unpredictable New Hampshire! One minute it's sunny, the next it's sleeting! It's always good to be informed about what severe weather conditions really mean, especially the dangers of driving in them. Thanks for the good information!

Hmmm...is that why I like lemon scents so much? Great advice! I always opt for coffee, and know I shouldn't. I'll try this out next time I feel this way, which will probably be later today!

There is a lot of information out there about ADHD. I saw the symptoms of it early on with my oldest daughter. Then I learned so much more about it that I didn't even know! I had done my research before bringing her to a counselor, which I thought she should have because of her cousin dying. I use 1-2-3 Magic with her, which is a disciplinary method created by a psychiatrist. It is a published book, and has done wonders for tantrums and misbehaviors. She is doing so well now. No one would even suspect she has ADHD! If you think your child has this, simply bring them to your local therapist. A psychiatrist will ask you some questions about his/her behavior and have their school teacher fill out a form. It's not the best way to figure it out - only medication can truly tell you if they really do or don't have it by their reactions to the medication.

I recommend reading 1-2-3 Magic, even if your child doesn't have ADHD and you need a little help with discipline. It is so helpful.

Student Drug Testing in Middle School - Blog Entry

I have two daughters, ages 6 and 4. I am always looking to the future with them. I agree it should be done. If not, I might do a test at home. My hubby and I believe in discipline and a pro-active approach with our kids. I was a cheerleader and sofball player in school. I wasn't so great at softball, but was a great cheerleader. If I hadn't done some things I now regret, it could have been even better. I could have even sought out a scholarship. Drugs hingered my true talents, and took up a lot of my time. I believe schools, just like employers, have the right to do this - and should. That's my two cents. = )
