Too Many Batteries! - Blog Entry

I agree! It's mayhem! My daughters received some great gifts during the holidays, but the batteries required for some of them is just annoying and costly!

Home Business & Kids - Making it Work - Blog Entry

LOL...too funny and so true! I have two daughters ages 6 and 4, and I started this business over 5 years ago. It's still difficult! I love what you said here: "The only timetable they operate on is their own and it generally has only one time: NOW."

Breastfeeding: How Long Is Too Long? - Blog Entry

01 Mar 2006 03:36 AM

Interesting information and facts. Many do find it weird that women breastfeed after the infant gets a little older. While working at a children's entertainment restaurant, there was a woman breastfeeding at a discreet table. There were so many complaints from customers that the manager had asked the woman to cover herself with a blanket or leave! How ridiculous! This is a very controversial issue. I think the health benefits, and money-savings alone are reasons enough to breastfeed. I didn't really get the chance to breastfeed my daughters due to a complication. I wish I had that.

Taking the Stigma out of Mental Illness - Blog Entry

01 Mar 2006 03:31 AM

Great information! Stigma seeps into every mental illness, and I find that sad. It makes people feel ashamed to admit something's wrong. Well, I'll be brave and tell you now, something's wrong. I have Agoraphobia with Panic Disorder, as well as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I'm not ashamed. I'm frustrated at the lack of knowledge, and the stigmas I hear about all the time. Thanks for reminding everyone that we all have something! That's what makes us different and similiar at the same time.

Work at Home Moms and Dads - Blog Entry

01 Mar 2006 03:25 AM

Sooooooooo true! I am a fulltime freelance writer, and working at home is very difficult with the demands of two young daughters. There are doctor appointments, Girl Scouts, Gymnastics, school meetings, and more. That doesn't even include spending much needed time with them, and the simple daily tasks. My hubby and I recently decided on a schedule of sorts. It's more like assigned shifts. We're testing it out to see how it will work, but so far I have gotten much more work done! Since he stays up late, and I have an easier time getting up in the morning, I take the morning shift (writing, then spending time with my youngest daughter). When he gets up, I work some more. When my older daughter gets home from school we spend time together until bedtime. If I have the energy, I work some more, and then head to bed. It sounds hectic, and it is! However, it's a lot easier creating an agreement on a routine rather than just winging it. So far, so good! Thanks for pointing out that working from home does have it's difficulties. So many people (like family/friends) assume it's easier than working outside the home. I'm not sure which is more difficult, but I was not prepared for this! And I have been writing from home for over 5 years!

Practical Ways to Build Self-Esteem (1) - Blog Entry

01 Mar 2006 03:17 AM

I see so many people with low self-esteem. It's horrible. Even models! I sometimes wish I could wave a magic wand and make everyone accept the way they look. We are different. It's that simple. Sure, there are things about my look that I don't like too much, but I don't let it ruin my happiness! It sounds simple, but it took me a long time to accept myself.

What is Bipolar Disorder? - Blog Entry

Great information about a topic not talked about enough. There are many stigmas attached to every mental illness, and Bipolar is, I would say, on the top 10. Great article!

Tax preparation software in review - Blog Entry

I've tried the free version of TaxAct, and didn't like their process. This year I used TaxCut, and loved it. As a self-employed individual, it's hard to find a program that works great for free. At the IRS website you can find free options. This is how I found these two programs.
