I am 33 weeks pregnant and “plan” on trying for a VBAC. My Doc says the only way she’ll really let me is if I go into labor on my own. (which I am fine with) I was just wondering what old wives tales has anyone heard, tried and used to successfully induce labor?:wave:May 6, 2007 at 12:33 am #914742

Having sex will induce labor or at the very least soften your cervix.May 6, 2007 at 12:45 am #914747
Hi, I used caster oil and 8 hours later my water broke! Just used the recommended dose and it seemed to work for me.. a friend told me about it and that it worked for her too. everyone is different but …… it did work. MelissaMay 6, 2007 at 4:51 am #914777

LOL… it’s probably coincidence that I went into labor the next day after bowling, but maybe it helped move things along? LOL I dunno but it is a fun story to tell cause it is what actually happened…..September 9, 2007 at 7:19 pm #939993
There are definitely a lot of the same old techniques that everyone hears about such as walking, having sex, castor oil, nipple stimulation. I don’t know if they work but I was lucky enough to have a doula who knew one of the best ways to induce labour and that was labor acupressure. It’s really relaxing and it really works to get things moving along. At least it did for me. And an added bonus is that it helps reduce the pain during childbirth.September 10, 2007 at 12:18 am #940034
sex, walking and going up the stairs did it for me oh and squatting also..October 4, 2007 at 5:35 pm #945656
We found labor acupressure was very helpful too. Simple and easy to do and a vast relief. I recommend it if you can find a Doula who knows the technique.July 14, 2010 at 5:24 pm #1043660

Lots of physical activity. I’ve also heard many times that acupuncture can help.
