I learned so much while driving with my parents as a young child and while just sitting in the car with them talking about stuff. Playing Inside A Parked Car - Blog Entry19 Jan 2007 02:58 PM I am in the car with her, yes. I am either sitting in the passenger seat, beside her, or she is on my lap in the driver's seat while parked in the driveway. Kids Using Cameras - Blog Entry18 Jan 2007 08:04 PM Laura, what a great topic - I with I had thought of it first! My girl loves to use (both for real when we have batteries to spare and pretend) our old digital camera (1mp Kodak that came free with our old Dell PC). She lines up her bears and dolls and instructs them to "stay still", "say cheese", and to smile and snaps away. She absolutely loves taking pictures. and you are right, how cool it is to see the world through their view. We as parents forget a lot, at least I do, how completely different the POV is from down there. What about a Father's "Right to Choose"? - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 09:35 AM Wow, here is a topic you do not see or hear to much of...at least not this angle. As a man and a father, I could not imagine forcing a women to go 9 months and deliver a baby she does not want - even if I did want to keep the child. But the female needs to have MORE of the say, as the baby is inside her and she will have to handle the delivery and the aftermath of what that does to her mind and body. Marriage Advice: 5 Habits to Give Up - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 09:30 AM Oh boy, The logical solution is SO me. I always look to and promote the logical approach to problem solving. I tend to strip emotions out of just about everything, because I can, and get down to business: a kind of business-like, roll up the sleeves and work it out type of thing. This, more often than not, drived my wife batty. I am getting better becoming a bit more emotional and she the opposite. We are trying to meet somewhere in the middle. It has been 8 years together and the results are positive. But it will always be a work in progress. A Year of Potential Dreams - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 09:10 AM Very sensible stuff here. My wife and I talk all the time about stuff we want to do in the house, vacation-wise and in life. For those that do not have these discussions regularly, the new year is a good chance to get this stuff back on the table. It is so important for a couple (and anyone, really) to keep moving forward and not let the mundane events of a typical workday get you down and make you forget about your passions, dreams and goals. This year, my wife is encouraging and even challenging me to dive deeper into my writing and tee shirt/gift designing, to see if those two web "business" are really sustainable. We are trying to plan a fun trip with a lot less this year (we did a 2 week trip to France with our little girl just 3 months ago). We have baby #2 on the way and do not want to go crazy again this year (well, I do, but we cannot afford it!). What Is A Pantry Challenge? - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 09:05 AM Interesting. I had never heard the term pantry challenge before reading this article. When money is low or when we cannot bare the thought of food shopping at our local supermarket, we open up the cupboards and get creative. A lot of spices and combinations I normally would not attempt to incorporate come into play and the results, while mixed, are always entertaining. It feels good to make a meal out of the stuff already laying about the house. Could You Work Without a Computer? - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 09:01 AM Funny topic. I couldn't function without it - considering my little home "business" is writing for the web and designing tees and gifts for my online store! haha. That wouldn't work very well, would it! Yeah, small landscaping outfits might be able to swing it but anything with a couple employees and is not under the table should have one for recordkeeping. Playing In The Kitchen - Blog Entry16 Jan 2007 08:58 AM This is great stuff Teresa. My girl spent a lot of time in the kitchen with me when she was younger (which sounds weird since she is not even 3 yet!). Plastic measuring cups were always a big hit and you are right, as they get older introduce rice/cherrioes/etc and let them transfer from one container to another. Breakfast For Dinner - Blog Entry09 Jan 2007 03:53 PM I could really eat breakfast three times a day! I just love it...off to make ham and cheese omletes right now... |
