"Snowmen at Night" is a lovely wintertime read. Ok, so it is not exactly about the first day of winter - although it could be!

Thanks QueenAngie,

You are so right. As she gets older those days/nights out with me (and her Mum) will become even more vital in passing on the nuances of being a social creature. That is the fun and most amazing part of being a parent, teaching all those little things (like how to leave a tip and communicate with a waiter or waitress, as you mentioned) that help them grow up right and become full fledged adults!

Why You and Your Spouse Should Create Your Own Traditions - Blog Entry

My family, parents and siblings, still gather at my parent's house to decorate their Christmas Tree. We all have kids now and they too enjoy bringing Grandmom and Grandpop's teddy bear themed tree to life. Now that I have my own little family, we have taken to making an evening out of decorating our own tree. We have also adopted a "theme" for our tree and household decorations - Snowmen. We put on some seasonal music, light a few candles and when it is dark out begin stringing the lights and then moving on to the ornaments. We then huddle up under a blanket and watch Rudolph on tape. Hopefully, when our child (and future children) are older, they will want to come back home to continue this tradition, like we do with my parents. I love this time of year.
