22 Aug 2006 08:08 PM Kitten in Tree Since SundayThis kitten has been up high in the sky with the wind blowing it every which way since Sunday. We came back from our family reunion to find a scared kitten in a half acre wooded area next to our home. We thought it was just in the woods, but every time we walked in to find it the cries seem to come from different directions. It wasn't until Monday that we found out from a neighbor, it was high in a tree. I think another neighbor's Jack Russel Terrier, that loves to chase the ferel cats around, may have chased it there, but it could have been just scared because of unfamiliar territory. We don't know where it came from, but our area has always been a place that seems people think it is o.k. to drop off kittens. It is right across from our local elementary school. A Public Utility District employee came and tried to help, but it climbed higher. PETA told me to get the fire department. I called them and nobody answered, not even a message machine. I know we're a small town but geez, you'd think they'd have an answering machine! I called the sheriff's department to ask how to get a hold of them and they said, "Well, Monday nights, when they have their meetings, might be a good time, Hildebrand is the fire chief". I told them the situation and they informed me that the fire department doesn't do those kind of rescues because of the danger, so I didn't call them back, until later, but still no answer. A PETA rep stated they'd try and get a tree service to get the kitten down. I haven't heard from them yet. Any suggestions?? No comments on this article yet. Be the first to comment!
