I had my three girls vaginally. The boy was my c section last July. I did everything I wrote about in this blog to try to avoid the possibility of a c section. I never imagined I'd need one, since I had three babies naturally in the past. Sometimes they are necessary, but they are still done too often. Having had both, I'd take a vaginal birth any day. The recovery was difficult for me, especially with four children that needed me. Pregnancy After a Traumatic Birth - Blog Entry23 Apr 2007 10:49 AM Thank you for your comment. I'm happy you are thinking positive. Families.com owns the right to publish this blog. You'd have to get the permission of the site owner to use it anywhere else. Thanks for the compliment! Hospital Crosses Line - Blog Entry19 Apr 2007 07:44 PM Did they ask the staff to cut off the ankle bracelet? When I had my babies they told us the alarm would sound and the stairways and elevators are locked down if a baby is taken off the floor. The hospital is definitely wrong, but the parents should have known better. I would have told them to cut it off or I would have cut it myself, so the alarm would sound in my room. That is a horrible story. I'm so happy the baby wasn't hurt and the father was only shot with a TASER!! :( Let's Talk About Elective Cesareans - Blog Entry18 Apr 2007 11:07 AM Sarah is absolutely correct about the dangers of elective c sections. It is unbelievable to me that this is even allowed. C section should be reserved for emergency situations only and never be allowed when there is no clear medical indication. Doctors who routinely allow their patients to choose this route are irresponsible, in my opinion. I feel this way about all unnecessary surgical procedures. I had a c section with my fourth baby. It was medically necessary after many hours of labor. I would NEVER want to go through it again. It was horrible. Having had 3 vaginal and 1 c section, I can tell you natural labor is definitely better for mom and baby. Ask a Baby Blogger: Just How Do You Do It? - Blog Entry11 Apr 2007 06:01 PM I hear this question all the time too, and I only have four! Our families sound similar, but I don't homeschool. I'd love to hear more about how you manage to get in enough hours of instruction with the little ones and working from home. My two daughters would love to be homeschooled, but I really worry that their education would suffer with so much going on. FDA Issues Warning for Rotavirus Vaccine - Blog Entry06 Mar 2007 07:23 PM My doctor is not giving this vaccine to any of her patients. I went in there ready to decline this vaccine. She told me that she isn't using it because there isn't enough data to prove it's safe. Basically she told me that it's better to have bad diarrhea and need an IV than to lose half the child's colon. For me, the moral of the story is wait before rushing into the doctor's office for the latest vax on the market. I'll be waiting a few years before my kids get any new vaccine on the market. The "longitudal studies" they are talking about are our kids! Pro Life Infertility Specialists - Blog Entry06 Mar 2007 07:01 PM Thanks for the great information. When I was going through infertility treatments, the Church was o.k. with IUI, if it was the husband's sperm. It was in our case. That was 8 years ago and luckily the IU worked for us. I hadn't seen the stance on GIFT. Baby Shower Games - Blog Entry27 Feb 2007 08:06 PM I'm writing a blog on couples showers tomorrow. Thanks for the comment Sara! :) Planning a Baby Shower - Blog Entry26 Feb 2007 05:46 AM Personally, I think every baby should be celebrated. My friends and family only gave me a shower with my first baby too. If your mom doesn't want to host a shower, maybe a friend or sister would. If not, consider hosting a welcome baby party yourself after the baby arrives. Congratulations and celebrate that baby! Why You Won't Catch Me at a Nurse-In - Blog Entry23 Feb 2007 11:02 AM So far our state legislators have been unwilling to take up the cause. Maybe a national law is needed to protect the rights of mothers and babies across the country? |
