They are the future, and it is to them that we must pass on the light of knowledge, because it is them who are going to shape the course of the world after we have passed away from our position of influence and also from this mortal coil. In the wake of the economic turmoil that has transpired in the last few years, it has become painfully evident that the one of the most crucial areas in their education that must be attended to is their financial education. As parents, it is critical that we teach them about proper planning, and smart decision-making when it comes to their finances. The wealth of knowledge available to parents in the information age is so staggering that it is inexcusable to neglect to do so. Our children have to know how to protect themselves in the event that disaster should ever strike. As children, they do not understand the pressures and strains that are often brought to bear on adults, but they understand perfectly well when you are suffering. As their parent, it is you that is the rock in their lives, as it is you they depend on to survive and to prepare them for life beyond the home. The damage that stress can do to adults is already bad enough - what it can do to a child is staggering. They don't have the matured neural pathways to reroute and manage stress, part of which is the brain knowing when to stop producing the stress hormone, cortisol that, if it is over-saturating the body can do incredible amounts of damage. Our children must be prepared to enter into the world before they do so; to act otherwise would be a disservice. Hopefully they don't get into the position where they have to repair credit, but they have to know the difference when they're young.
