Mary Ann forgot to mention that the reason everyone here at Families.com are such good guests when she "opens up and invites them into her home" is because she's such a gracious hostess! I love reading her articles. They're always very informative. And whenever I've had questions or want to guest blog in any of her topics, she's always been so enthusiastic about my posts. She's a gem! (And so are you, Tristi, for introducing us to another side of her. ;)

Watching a Loved One Lose Time - Blog Entry

26 Feb 2008 09:04 AM

Aimee, your story brought tears to my eyes. My grandma also faded away from this disease. I lost her long before I actually "lost" her for good. And now my mom is showing the signs. What's troubling about that is she 20 years younger than Gram was. And Gram was more proactive about wanting to fight it. My mom refuses to try any of the meds or mind exercises. She's just giving up and struggling with depression and loneliness. (Other than my sister who lives near her in Denver, she has no one. Her brother lives in NJ and I live in TN so...)

I try to help when I can. Or, rather, when she'll let me. She doesn't want the help. Which makes it even worse. Anyway, thanks very much for sharing this. I related to it very much.

Meet a Families.com Blogger - Valorie Delp! - Blog Entry

24 Feb 2008 10:23 AM

Tristi, this is such a fun idea and I can't wait to read the rest because I learned so much more about Valorie that I'd never gleaned from just her blogs. Who knew she spoke 2 other languages and has now set her sights on Arabic? Or that she would want to pursue a Master's in Children Lit? I always find her interesting and this just explains that even more...she truly IS as well-rounded, versatile, open to anything as she seems!!! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to know her better. =)

What an interesting view, Janet. I sure had not ever considered that as being the reason WHY such people act the way they do, but the way you write it makes perfect sense really. Thanks for sharing the insight!
