The Search for the Perfect Engagement Ring - Blog Entry

29 Oct 2008 12:10 PM

Oh how exciting Jade! That's what I remember...the anticipation. (But Wayne's proposal wasn't romantic. He planned nothing.)

I was surprised you went with to go pick out the ring. I would have pegged you for a "surprise me" kind of girl. I was wrong! Learned something new about you. Interesting.

And interesting to hear you didn't want a diamond either. I'm surprised by the number of people I've heard comment in various places on this site that aren't all that taken by diamonds. Maybe this is more common than I realize and why diamond companies try so hard to advertise. Never see a ruby or sapphire or emerald advertisement!

Thanks for the comment and congrats. Looking forward to hearing what your beau does for the proposal and when!

What a cool comment, Drnewmom! Thanks so much for sharing and putting a smile on my face. I love that cats do that (adopt people). There's something magical about being chosen as "the one."

Yikes! I can understand why you'd want another ring, and I'm glad you shared this with me. Your perspective helped me see it in another light. Thank you.

How Would He Have Voted During the Suffrage Movement? - Blog Entry

Thanks for your wonderful comments, Alisa and Pattie!

It's really interesting talking about these kinds of things with others, ins't it, Alisa? I, too, have gotten some "things that make you say HMMMM" answers from friends with regards to those subjects. (As well as ones more pressing to our times.)

And HOW COOL your great grandma was a suffragette, Pattie! FASCINATING! I'm so glad you shared this connection you (and your grandma) have to that topic. And you are so dead on: amazing what a difference just a few generations makes!

Thanks again for your comments, ladies!

Can Love Last Forever - Blog Entry

27 Oct 2008 02:51 PM

It can if you don't think on it too death. I was younger than you when I met the man who would become my husband and we've been together over 22 years now. Still going strong. Just enjoy what you have with your girlfriend and don't worry about the future. You don't know how long that will be. You have to just enjoy and cherish every single day because life throws a lot of curve balls. You're young now and the world is before you, but it can end tomorrow. The best way to make what you have last forever is just to appreciate what you have today.

Halloween, the Economy and Your Family - Blog Entry

26 Oct 2008 06:37 PM

I was Wonder Woman like 3 years in a row because I liked the costume (which my mom had made for me) and the character that much. I don't know any kids who would do that now. I do know some that hand-me-down costumes within their household, though. This year I'm spending all of $10 on Halloween. (If that. Whatever it will end up costing me for a couple bags of candy...which might be under $10.) Can't afford a big deal this year!
