Opposites, But Not

Lol, Kara. My DH hates the way I dress. He calls most of my outfits "Ernie attire." (Ernie as in Sesame Street because of my colorful, and not always so coordinated, picks.) Again, if we had kids...oh, the disagreements we would have!

Oh boy, can I feel you on the decorating front. Wayne and I have VERY different tastes. Compromise isn't even an option, it's a given when it comes to that. And as for kids...our fur kids are well aware of the very different "parenting" styles we have. Now if we could only be like you and your dh and find the humor in it all... That's what we need to learn!

That's why you and your husband work, Valorie. You have the key things in common and the rest you're willing to roll with. I think that's pretty cool.

Oh man...maybe I WILL tell him then. That'll keep him on this side of the pond and erase his envy. He DESPISES baths!!!! ;)

Marry Now, Celebrate Later, Save Money and Your Marriage?

I'm like you Valorie --my mom and dad both pitched in to help with certain expenses, which is why we even had half the shin dig we had. But we never had a honeymoon. We took 4 days off work, flew to Denver, got married, flew back to Phx and were back to work on Monday. I was not good with money back then so that was part of why no honeymoon... But we've had several good trips since then. None that were honeymoonish, but some that were to pretty romantic places.

Marriage as God Designed It?

What a beautiful article, Dale. I just feel for any couple who gets to their older years and knows health hard times. But to still stay devoted, and truly be there in sickness and in health, and then to miss them so much that you follow soon after...that's the truest kind of true love story, isn't it? Love when you bring these to light!

Ah! Thanks for the education. Neat to learn about another place and how things are done!

Thanks for the back up, Valorie! And it's good to see your life experience paying off yet again. Jeez. You're the WOMAN!

And RuthAnn8, I'm with you. If I had the money to blow that big on one day I might do it, but when I don't have the money??? Not going to splurge on that. I knew there wouldl be others things I'd want to enjoy with that money more. (Didn't know what then, but then came the chance to buy our first house the year after we were married. Glad we hadn't spent our savings on the wedding and used it for the downpayment instead. It's helped us out a lot more over the years.)

I'm not telling Murph about the dog whistle. He'll have visions of your dog in the country merrily chasing rabbits and will be hounding me to get him over to England to do the same!
