My grandma also faded away from this disease. I lost her long before I actually "lost" her for good. And now my mom is showing the signs. What's troubling about that is she 20 years younger than Gram was. And Gram was more proactive about wanting to fight it. My mom refuses to try any of the meds or mind exercises. She's just giving up and struggling with depression and loneliness. (Other than my sister who lives near her in Denver, she has no one. Her brother lives in NJ and I live in TN so...) I try to help when I can. Or, rather, when she'll let me. She doesn't want the help. Which makes it even worse. Anyway, thanks very much for sharing this. I related to it very much. Finding a Stray: Should You Put Their Picture on Found Flyers?25 Feb 2008 09:34 AM You're very welcome. I'm glad you found it helpful! Meet a Families.com Blogger - Valorie Delp!24 Feb 2008 10:23 AM Tristi, this is such a fun idea and I can't wait to read the rest because I learned so much more about Valorie that I'd never gleaned from just her blogs. Who knew she spoke 2 other languages and has now set her sights on Arabic? Or that she would want to pursue a Master's in Children Lit? I always find her interesting and this just explains that even more...she truly IS as well-rounded, versatile, open to anything as she seems!!! Thanks for giving us the opportunity to know her better. =) Which is Worse: An Emotional Affair or a Physical One?21 Feb 2008 11:47 AM Thanks for the comments, ladies! I got a kick out of hearing how you viewed the hypothetical! When a Stalker Intrudes on Your Relationship...21 Feb 2008 11:43 AM What an interesting view, Janet. I sure had not ever considered that as being the reason WHY such people act the way they do, but the way you write it makes perfect sense really. Thanks for sharing the insight! Steve Fossett Declared Dead16 Feb 2008 03:07 PM Isn't this so sad? He was kind of eccentric in his own way, but inspiring in another because he had such a great sense of adventure. I kept hoping they'd find him. Even when I heard they'd declared him legally dead earlier this a.m. I thought, "I sure hope they do find him one day. Preferably alive and somehow with an amazing tale of survival, but at least his remains so they know for sure he's gone." I will miss hearing about what record he's got his sites on breaking next. It was fun to follow Fossett's Follies. To Declaw or Not to Declaw, That is the Question15 Feb 2008 02:54 PM Long live our cats! Tab's still not declawed and I've adapted to giving her "claw days." And here's to hoping I have the honor of saying my cats live as long as yours! Six More Ways to Start the Day Right15 Feb 2008 11:17 AM Having a hard time "just" these days? Try every day! Not a morning person, and the cats don't make it any easier. They love nothing more than snuggling up next to me when I open my eyes...which promptly puts me right back to sleep! How Do You Feel about Valentine's Day?15 Feb 2008 10:25 AM I think you're right, Lyn. I think sometimes people do say they don't want something or don't celebrate to try and convince themselves of a lie.
