Linda, you make me laugh!

Having 2 sons, I can completely agree with you.

I'm a Walmart Mom, with one son "Mr. Abercombie-Fitch" (Mr. Preppy) and the other son "formerly Mr. Hollister" who is now "I'm wearing shorts now no matter how much snow there is out there and I have my hoodie."

Where did this children come from?

Every parent has to choose their battles wisely.

Thank you for sharing.

Continuation of the IEP into an ITP is very important for the student.

We are looking at this transition as DS#2 graduates in May and begins jr. college in the fall.

I had a sigh of relief at the last staffing for the IEP in high school.

Don't know if I have the strength....just yet to tackle the next step, but I have a few more weeks to go.

I'm just thankful that he will be going to college!

Valorie, enjoyed reading about your typical morning with the children and home schooling. I don't think I'd have the patience it takes to do it. I am amazed with everything you are able to accomplish in a morning. Thank you so much for sharing.

Struggling to Focus - Blog Entry

02 Jan 2007 08:08 PM

Thank you for sharing.

Our church has gallon sized baggie children packets that one former teacher makes up for each Sat/Sun service.

Each has a Bible story book, the Bible verses for the day, a coloring page to go along with that Bible verse & crayons, a word search with the Bible verse for the day words, and other things to help kids stay focused on church..... but it is on the child's level, not on the adult's level as many church services may be.

We also have a children's sermon and that same message goes along with the sermon. Any age can understand the children's sermon.

For Holy Communion, while young children do not receive HC in our church, they do receive a blessing from the minister and he always uses their 1st name in the blessing.

When my kids were young, I was not able to focus on the service because I was being the Mom, and helping them to sit quietly in church.

Now that they are teens and sit quietly in church, it is a great time to be able to focus during church.

Prayer in the quiet evenings or quiet mornings is a good opportunity daily.
