Misconceptions - Blog Entry

Good point!

DH's family calls green peppers, "mangos." (I do not know why.) Mangos are a fruit. Green peppers are a vegetable.

DH now calls them green peppers.

It's all good. God made both green peppers and mangos too.

"Dancing with the Stars" the Truth Finally Comes Out - Blog Entry

I enjoy watching this show, in bits and pieces. It's fun and full of great people.

Glad that you mentioned about her passing out last week. I missed that one. At least she had the gumption to come back out.

Marie? I think she is trying really hard and doing her best. I'm not voting or a professional dance judge, so it doesn't matter.

I'm just enjoying it.

What do you think?

Initiating Breastfeeding with the Breast Crawl - Blog Entry

19 Nov 2007 06:29 PM

Interesting! We all know that babies instinctive BF for the 1st time. I had never heard of the Breast Crawl before.

Is this anything like the Breast Stroke in swimming? Teasing here.

Babies all are born with a Fright or Flight Response and several others too. Rather makes sense for this too.

Wondering why it took until 1998 for researchers to note this discovery.

Untraditional Out-of-Town Lodging - Blog Entry

Interesting concept!

Have to tell you that when my DS#1 graduates from college next May, 08, there are pretty much no hotel/motel rooms available for that weekend. The few that are yet available big bucks.

We discussed it and will be staying at DS#1's apt that weekend. He has a one bedroom and it is really nice. We can always bring a blow-up mattress. The down side is that it is on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator. He keeps it spotless (at least when I visit) and there is every convenience of home.

That's my 'summer home.'

"Christian" Healing and Mental Health (3) - Blog Entry

I know of one teenaged boy that had cancer and ended up dying, despite excellent medical care and many prayers.

His family was very religious and some individuals took it upon themselves to state that "if they only prayed more," "if only they'd had more blessings," "something that the parents or grandparents had done was evil, so this was the result of their child dying of cancer."

There individuals were not people who went to our church.

They were people in the community.

Not very supportive or loving friends, in my opinion.

Why would anyone say such a thing to a grieving mother?

Finding a Good Therapist - Blog Entry

Wanted to add, since I work in health care, it is very easy for me to ask my social worker friends at the hospital, who they would recommend as a counselor in private practice.

My insurance at work covers counseling in two ways.

The Employee Assistance Program offers 1st a telephonic session to help immediately and arrange the 1st in person session. I believe there are 6 sessions that are covered by this program. They are free, but arrange which counselor you will be seeing.

My health insurance covers XX amount of sessions per year, with the counselor of my choice within the health care plan of counselors, and there is a co-pay for each session.

I am thinking that insurance helps determine the cost and who you may see.

Should You Keep Items from an Ex? - Blog Entry

Having been married for 26 years to the same man, I still have a shoebox full of momentos from before DH.

Have not looked at it in years.

If it is part of your past history (formal dances, parties) there is nothing wrong with a few momentos.
