Wow! You two have been very busy this week. Will enjoy reading the blog series.

Memories That Linger

02 Mar 2007 09:02 PM

Ed Paul, you are doing a great job with hose young boys.

Perhaps another insight is this: the honeymoon is over, he is feeling a sense of security with you and your wife in your safe home, and so he is releasing some of those issues that he has held tightly for so long. He knows you will be there for him and catch him before he falls.

Can you show some appropriate ways to show anger? Go outside and throw marshmallows or the frizbee. Drawing his feelings on paper (not on the walls). Use playdough on a plastic tablecloth for hands-on creativeness. Sharing cream all over the bathtub.

Those 5 young boys are very blessed, but so are you and Nancy!

Week in Review: The Virtuous Wife to God's Will

25 Feb 2007 01:18 PM

While I rarely wear purple......this is a wonderful passage. In my church women's group, we studied this passage in a book weekly for an entire 3 months. Really great points, MJ!

Thank you for helping to keep us focused.

Child Support from the Ex-Spouse

25 Feb 2007 01:14 PM

What a shame that the children's father was such a jerk, sending 1/2 of a $20.00. Wonder how he expected those children to be fed or clothed with his not paying child support.

I think it is better when the court arranges for the wages to come directly from the paycheck of that parent, and then money to be sent to the custodial parent.

Thank you for sharing!

The Third Principle of A Frugal Lifestyle: Recycle

25 Feb 2007 01:11 PM

We have curb side recycling only for newspapers, cardboard, soda cans, and plastic milk cartons.

It is also supposed to include washed out clean glass items. But, they seem to reject those constantly, even when the glass is clearly marked for recycling. Go figure.

The Truth About Television

25 Feb 2007 01:09 PM

TV can be very educational for children....within certain limits and for short periods of time.

I think it is good for children to learn to appreciate classical music, musicals, literature, art, dance, and more. Using specific shows can help this.

Lisa, I didn't know you spoke French. Another new twist in your history. Some of us only speak English. From my Swedish heritage, I only know one simple folk song and a few spoken words. What a shame this wasn't shared more when I was growing up.

Thanks for sharing some of the good things that come from viewing TV!

Secret Family Signals

25 Feb 2007 01:02 PM

I have neighbors that do the "I love you" in sign language to each other. The children learned it as babies. So cute!

I have to share another experience that we observed. We were waiting in a long line to enter a big amusement park. Ahead of us were grandparents, son & DIL, and grade school aged grandkids. The grandmother let out this noise, "Hoot Hoot!" and sounded like an owl. She always called her children with this.

It was really obnoxious, distinctive, but obnoxious.

I asked the DIL if she too used this, "Hoot Hoot!" and she laughed, "No way, it's only my MIL that does this in the family."

The grandpa got out of line and the grandmother "Hoot Hoot!" to have him locate her again. It was too funny.
