Homecoming Weekend 2006 Part III

Here it is the high school homecoming weekend and we've talked about Friday night with the parade, pep rally, and bombfire.  It was a wonderful parade and a lot of fun.

Today was a chilly, sunny day, with a sharp, cutting wind.  I picked up DS#2's senior portrait proofs at the photographer's.  Can't believe how grown-up and mature he looks.  In the blink of an eye, we were sending him to kindergarten.  Can't believe he is allready a senior in high school.  My how time flies.

The football game started at 1:30 sharp, a home game, of course.

DH prefers to stand on the goalline by the fence and watch the entire game.  Me, I'd prefer the bleacher seats, but bring along my chair-in-a-bag (that DH carries) so that I can sit by him at the goalline to watch the game.

Dang, it is cold.  A chilly wind blows right through to the bones.  The sun is shining, but that wind gives a strong chill.  Good thing I brought a blanket, but still I'm not warm.  I take myself to the snack stand to get some hot chocolate.  It is really delicious.  Our nextdoor neighbor is the sportsboosters president, so he was one of the volunteers in the snack shake.  They ran out of hot chocolate and had to make more.  I told the server, "I think Bob's out back milking that cow for my hot chocolate."  That brought a lot of giggles.

DS#2 had a great game.  He tackles the other team...when they have the ball.  I think that is on defense, but that just shows you how much I truly know about football.  OK, 4 quarters of 12 minutes each.

My goal as the Mom is to be able to pick out where #79 (my son) is located in the game and to make certain that I can see that he is able to stand up after a play.  And to make a silent prayer to God to keep my baby safe and not get hurt.

We won 43 to 12.  It was a great game.  DS#2's name was called out after several plays for sacking the quarterback.

DH was also listening on the radio during the game as it was broadcast and got to hear his son's name on by the announcer at the footballgame and on the radio too for his tackling.

The marching band was very enthusiastic during the game and had a great halftime show.  The cheerleaders also had some great cheers during the halftime show.

The team was very pleased with the results of the game.  And so were we.

Go, WHS!
