Homecoming Weekend 2006 Part IIII ~The Untold Twists

Sunday AM another homecoming is done and over.

So much anticipation, so much fun.

There were a couple more interesting tidbits that I wanted to share.

Those sweet cheerleaders have a lot of enthusiasm and do special things for the football players.

Next door neighbor, Tina, always has a fall weiner roast.  It happened to fall on last Sunday night.  We could not attend this year.  On Wednesday morning, we noticed that her home was decorated with balloons and streamers.  I figured it was leftover from the weiner roast and we never noticed.  It's been a very busy week for us.

Now jump to Thursday evening.  Steve and I both got home from work after a usual day.  When Joseph, #79 football, came in the frontdoor about an hour later after football practice, he was really excited.  He walked in the door with two huge posters, football trinkets, and several packages of Big Red gum.  "It's from the cheerleaders and for homecoming," said Joe.  Really festive decorations.

Next morning, Friday, as Steve and I are getting in the car in the driveway to go to work, we notice the cheerleaders had been busy again.  White washed on the street in front of our home were, "Go Joe!  #79  Homecoming 06.  Go WHS!"

Next door neighbor, Tina, comes out and talks to us.  "Did you see the posters and the gum?" she says.  "One of the cheerleaders decorated my home and yard with the streamers, balloons, posters, and gum."  Sure enough, her picture window in the livingroom was painted too, "Go Joe #79!"

Ok, we figure that sweet cheerleader that delivered the gum and decorations was the cute little one that is always on top of the pyramid of cheerleaders.  She decorated one house over.  Maybe because she'd been dropped one too many times?  Just teasing.  She signed a really cute note and made up his poem for homecoming.

We were just glad there was no T.P. in the neighbor's trees or ours.

The homecoming dance and going out to eat were fun, according to Joe.

Afterwards they went over to one girl's home for breakfast and more snacks.  He was home by 12:30 AM, curfew.  I know, I stayed up to make certain he got home safe and sound.

Another successful homecoming, 7 years in a row.  It is also our last as Joseph is a senior.  What bittersweet memories.
