Meals on Wheels Adventure

There was one older church lady, "Marie," that would just drive me crazy during Bible studies....she'd talk nonstop and repeat things two or three times.

She had a good heart, but I could not seem to see past her annoying habits.

Oh, I was nice to her and spoke with her,
but she was like fingers on a chalkboard.

Then, I got the phone call that Meals on Wheels needed an emergency relief
driver that day. Elderly people were waiting on their meals. I stepped up to the
plate with my only request that it be in an area of town that I know.

Nope.

They sent me to the other side of town some 40 minutes away and who is
in to be riding shotgun to deliver?

Marie.

Don't worry, she did have a map of the area that I did not know......of bus routes
for the area.

Bus routes.

I'm driving a car.

"Turn left for the green bus route - turn here!"

"Turn right for the blue bus route."

I had no clue where we were.

Marie was reciting bus routes and schedules and I was searching for street signs.

We found one street and house that were
2 names ahead on our listing.

"You're 10 minutes late with my lunch."

I didn't have the heart to tell him we had missed two others.

As the good Lord was taking pity on me......a poor, poor pitiful soul
lost with Marie and having a bus route map, we did find all those houses
and completed our route.

As we were driving back with the empty hot ovens, we drove by
a store giving away free pumpkins. Marie and I both got a free pumpkin.

It was that day that I learned to love Marie and see the good in
her heart.

I guess you can see that, even though I was trying hard to be the good
Christian, it was actually Marie that had the more loving heart
and taught me a lesson that day in being a good Christian.
