07 Jul 2006 06:36 PM TGIF! 07/07/06 Two Great Easy Summer Recipes
AAAAAAAhhhhhhhhh! It's Friday evening. TGIF! Grab a cup or glass and sit down for a visit. I am enjoying my own icy beverage. This is a recipe that I created and it is delicious! It doesn't have a name yet. Let me know if you come up with a good name. V8 Fruit Juice in orange flavor Captain Morgan's, pineapple (optional) Ice This can be made in a tall glass with the appropriate proportions or be made into a slushy with a blender. Sit out in the backyard enjoying your favorite drink and feeling the summer breeze, sounds of the birds and cicadias humming, and watching little lightening bugs turning off and on . ********** I'm considering making semi-homemade strawberry pies tonight. I cheat a bit, but they are still homemade. Ingredients: 1 frozen pie shell 1 pound of fresh strawberries 1 tub of strawberry pie gel Cool Whip or whipped cream in the can Directions: Bake 1 ready made pastry crust as directed. If you feel creative, crimp the crusty edges. Make some fork indentations, so the crust stays to the foil pan. Cool. Wash, remove the stems, and slice 1 pound of fresh strawberries. Line the strawberries in the cooled pastry shell. Top with ready made strawberry pie gel, right next to the strawberries in the grocery section. Refrigerate. To serve, top with Cool Whip or whipped cream in the can. Delicious! Last week, we made this with my elderly Mom fixing the strawberries. Presented Dad with a fresh 'homemade' pie. He gave it 5 * * * * *! ****************** What are your weekend plans? ************* Another busy Friday at work. Computer glitch caused about 45 minutes delay at the end of the day. DS#1 has been studying seriously for his college classes. DS#2 went swimming and did some organizing of the garage, putting those big muscles to work. DH works at the State Capitol building and was invited to tour some areas that are limited to the public viewing. This was up really high and he had a great view of the surrounding country side. I asked him if his life insurance was paid-up. "Monk" has returned to the Friday night line-up of new shows tonight. Used to be one of my favorites, watching the mystery unfold and the crime to be solved. I liked his previous assistant better; she was an LPN. ************* Quote of the Day: "In summer, the song sings itself." William Carlos Williams (1883 - 1963) Bible Verse of the Day: Sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Psalm 96:2 Enjoy the evening! Hugs, Angie Michele Cheplic (40554) 08 Jul 2006 08:26 AMI agree... I liked Monk's previous assistant better too. :) Discuss this article
