Quilters

Sorry to find the thread so long after it started! But I quilt, and love it, and also can’t find the time (or room!) for it. I’m thinking about taking a week-long holiday this winter just to do the hobbies I enjoy but don’t have time for.

I used to make quilts out of worn-out and out-grown clothes, but discovered by accident that dressmakers often have bags and bags of off-cuts they simply toss out. If you enjoy patchwork or “picture” quilting, all the different textures and prints are a lot of fun…. and for more traditional quilting, there are often plenty of cottons. And it’s free, or nearly so, when fabric retails so high.

What are you working on currently, any special projects?

My elderly Mom loves to hand quilt. She has done it for years.
When she was a little more active, she’d go to church w/ the quilting ladies
Tuesdays (where they got paid for putting quilts together from the quilt tops)
and Wednesdays (quilting for charity = Lutheran World Relief).

I have made a few quilts and they are lovely.
Just no time recently to work on them.
