Is Being a Homemaker as Important as Working Outside the Home? - Blog Entry

01 Aug 2006 03:28 PM

Dear readers, dear Ariala, I fully agree with your article and I like the way you express your views about it. I have seen both sides of working outside the home and working at home. As my daughter was little, we had a shop, and I worked full time. As my son was 1 1/2 I decided to stay at home, and I have never been so happy and fullfilled. I see the problem still about feeling good about my role. When poeple(especially very active and succesfull women OUTSIDE the home) ask what I do, then somehow "just" being at home seems a bit bleak to answer. I find myself giving excuses, although I know I am dong what I love most. I believe that for may women the feeling of low self esteem by being at home comes from the value that the society is giving being at home. I find it wonderful that we can work together to redefine the value of housewifes. especially important is what you said about the children, that you make a safe place for them, that you make a home! That is why we are claled home makers. We make a home, and a home is a place where it feels good to be, where there is joy and peace and room for everybody. And the blessing about being at home is to have enough time to attend to the children yourself, to go to that assembly, to bring them(peacefully) to this and that activity, to cook for them with joy. I believe it is one of the most important jobs in the world!
