Do You Discipline Your Child in Public? - Blog Entry

The other day we were leaving Wal-Mart and my baby decided to throw a full blown tantrum b/c she didn't get any candy. I sat on the bench and calmly watched her lay on the floor kicking and crying. And of course everybody stared at us! When she finished she got up and we walked out.

Defending Your Teens Bad Behavior - Blog Entry

I choose do my college internship in Juvenile Probation b/c I thought I could help guide trouble children/teenagers lives. Very quickly did I learn that would be nearly impossible, mostly because of their PARENTS! How in the world can you help them when their parents think their children have done NOTHING wrong!

Granted kids will be kids and do stupid stuff, I sure did, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't learn from your mistakes. 'Kids will be kids' is not an excuse to misbehave, it is a lesson to be learned, a teaching opportunity, or whatever you want to call it.

I'm sorry for wife's loss. My grandmother passed away this year. I too was very close to her. It was very hard last few years for her. She had been very sick. But we were able to make the trip home several times and it was wonderful being able to make my grandmas day by bringing her only great grandchild over. Or trip was only a little over 4 hours to NW Iowa.

It was very hard for me after she passed. I looked at all my very young cousins and realized that they will never know her the way I did.

I have a laser temporal thermometer and if you get a good one they are just as accurate as a rectal thermometer. They can get expensive though. I also use saline mist that comes in a can, instead of drops or a squeeze spay. It is easier to use on a squirmy baby/toddler and it stays sterile.

Samuel, here they give you a tray and you walk though a line and every item is on its own tiny plate (fruit, vegetable, meat, roll, dessert) that's 5 little plates plus your drink. Imagine trying to carry that without a tray plus having your books with you. To me it would make more sense to get rid of all the plates and just pile everything on the tray! Heck let's get rid of silverware too!

That frustrating hole! I was always trying to adjust boppy and even stuffing a blanket in it that hole. But I love my boppy now!. Now that she is bigger, that hole works perfect for her arm & shoulder to fit in.

Five Things I Loved About Giving Birth In the Hospital - Blog Entry

To this day my husband still talks about the food! He can't wait to do it all again. My husband received free meals at our hospital! He thought it was the best thing ever, and even when our baby had to stay a couple extra days they then gave us both free meals.

Naming Your Baby: Is Popularity a Bad Thing? - Blog Entry

We used the social security website too! I also liked how it would list similar names too. We choose Ellamae, a form of Ella kind of like Eleanor. But Ellamae hasn't been in the top 1000 since 1922! But since Ella was popular it wouldn't seem so outdated. If we have a boy I wanted Elliott, but my husband hates it! He wants William, which has been in the top ten forever!!
