Computer hard drive Cat surgery Baseboard heating for the nursery Home owners insurance deductible from the ice storm, plus all the stress to make repairs and cleaning up. Car accident totals our running vehicle, insurance only gives us cash value witch was about $3000 less then it was worth. I brought on the tears and pleaded with the insurance man but it didn't help. Must make repairs on our old car because well we need a car with a heater, tires, & brakes. They we had hospital bills when she was born in Jan! Oh well, It was just money. Could have been worse! A List of the Best Generic Brands - Blog Entry29 Jul 2009 10:34 AM When I was in High School we got a tour of the local grocery store. They told us some interesting facts in regards to generic foods. Almost always they contract out though name brand companies and it is just the same stuff just in a store brand package. But you just don't know what brand of peanut butter is in the store brand jar and it changes if they decide to contract it out to another company. When it comes to milk based products look at what is the main brand in that store and I bet they have a contract with that company. B/c milk products are easily perishable and expensive to transport it is usually a local company. A company may give a "deal" on a contract if the store will promote their product. Sometimes companies change the product slightly for the store brands but to be cost effective most of the time it is exactly the same and came of the same production line as the name brand. Of course this was over 10 years ago and now with all the Giant food/store chains they may have found it for cost effective to manufacture more of their own products. I have found with diapers that Walmarts Parents Choice brand work best for my daugther. She tends to have poop accidents with fitted diapers. And I can get a box of 80-100 for less that $15! Summer Fun for Toddlers - Blog Entry27 Jul 2009 06:21 AM We have wonderful parks around our area. We pack up a meal to grill and spend the evening at the park or on a trail. Do You Let Your Child Run Around Naked in Public? - Blog Entry22 Jul 2009 12:09 PM My baby runs around naked every evening after her bath for about an hour. She runs to the CD player and says "louda louda louda Up" I then turn her CD player on and she dances like a mad woman! I love it! She loves to run without her diaper on. I have heard it is good to let your bottom air out a little everyday. Do You Take Your Kids to Funerals? - Blog Entry01 Jul 2009 06:55 AM My grandmother past away a few months ago. My toddler came with us. And of course during the service she didn't understand that she need to sit and not play so a friend took her to the nursery so I could stay. My husband couldn't assist b/c he was a casket bearer. I do agree that family funerals are for family and that includes all ages. Most of the time it is hard to find a sitter anyway b/c all your trusted sitters would be attending the funeral. Post-birth Weight Loss and its Psychological Impact - Blog Entry29 Jun 2009 08:14 AM Of course every situation is different. There may be a situation where a mommy makeover is completely harmless. I think the main issue is when you won't go to the park or swimming b/c you think you are ugly. We can do better for are children and show them that we are confident in who we are. Of course there is nothing wrong with trying to better ourselves which is totally different than making ourselves perfect b/4 we go out into public. How do some of these extreme women cope with having not so perfect children? How do children feel knowing they don't meet mommy's standards? Medical Bills and Bankruptcies - Blog Entry08 Jun 2009 09:13 AM My husband has type 1 diabetes. And as long as everything goes smoothly and he has NO issues the average we spend on health care is a little over $100 a week. About 5-6 thousand a year. That is only IF he has no issues. The year he decided to get the insulin pump was about twice that. Insurance covered 80% of the pump but after you add in all the extra appointments and trainings it adds up. Throw in an ER visit you add 1-2 thousand. Hospital stays can add up too. And we have decent insurance. Ask a Baby Blogger: How Young Is Too Young for Discipline? - Blog Entry29 May 2009 07:26 AM Good article. The "in need of a nap syndrome" happens to Ellamae all the time, especially when we are visiting family. She refused to nap or sleep b/c she is afraid of missing something. Nap time with come and go and finally around 4:30pm she breaks and throws herself to the floor and just sobs! And nothing you do can help her fall asleep, until you leave the relatives home. Just taking her to a quiet room with the pack n play doesn't work. When we stay overnight at my mom's we have this issue in the middle of the night. She wakes and throws a tantrum b/c she wants to know where grandma is. So the last visit I just let her sleep with grandma! Do You Floss? - Blog Entry15 May 2009 06:03 PM I floss twice a day. But I use the Reach flosser and I LOVE it. Parental Dilemma: Braces or Breakfast - Blog Entry05 May 2009 10:53 AM I got my braces 20 years ago! I was 10 and in the 4th grade. I had the top ones for 4 years, bottom for 4 ½, head gear, and retainers. I still wear the retainers at night. I remember the reasoning for starting early was b/c the younger you are the easier it is to fix. I guess they bones aren't fully set yet and makes it much easier to shape or fix an alignment. My aunt had hers done as an adult and they had to brake her jaw and shave down bone. I think as long as you wear the retainers and make sure the wisdom teeth don't mess up the alignment you shouldn't have to have them twice. But I did have the chicken pox twice!!! |
