Not a fan of most of those names, mainly b/c I have no idea how to pronounce some of them :) When we were looking for baby names I went to the social security website http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ to check out how popular they were. It will even show you similar name popularities.

Hair Loss After Baby's Birth - Blog Entry

I knew I would shed a lot after I had Ellamae, but I was still shocked by it! It seemed like ALL of my hair was falling out. My dh even noticed the extra hair in the shower and sink drains, and he is not very observant.

I am not criticizing the Duggers. There kids are well cared for, happy, and loved. I don't know how they do it, especially financially. It would be tough raising that many children, but that is the life they have chosen and they seem to love it. I would like to see how they do it financially, it really isn't any of my business, but it would be interesting.

I could go on an on about children and adults with disabilities, I have lots of opinions on that subject, mainly because that is what I do for a living. But I don't think the Duggers would have any problems caring for a disabled child/adult. That child would be will cared for and very loved.

I don't understand the debt free because I am not debt free :) Maybe it is a little jealousy. How can they have a big happy family when I worry about having 2 or 3 kids. And yes I do consider myself open minded (as long as people agree with me!)

I don't understand the debt free. Even if you build a house yourself you need money for the materials and land. Did the parents go to college? Don't they have college debt? They have to have had help from somewhere. Raising that many kid takes a lot of money how in the world do they save any money for retirement or for their kid college? And the amount of life insurance needed to take care of your 17 kids has to astronomical. They have to have a least started off with some help. I forgot what the dad does for a living, does he make a good amount of money?

House Approves Legislation for Tougher Toy Standards - Blog Entry

If you fear your child has lead in there system have your child tested (most insurance companies will pay for this). Then if they do have an unsafe amount in there system then look for the cause and remove it (some states offer help in finding the source and removing it). Lead is everywhere you just have to figure out where your child my be getting it from. The most common place is window sills, baseboards, very old carpet (from lead dust). But I do believe that companies should not be allowed to make toys with lead paint or any unsafe substance.

Is Air Conditioning Harmful for Your Baby? - Blog Entry

My dd loves to play on top of the central air ducts! She loves the blowing air. But anyway I think the reason they recomend 68 -72 degrees is because when sleeping it helps reduce the risk of sids. I don't remember where I read that so I could be wrong. My brother had severe allergies/asthma and my mom had to get rid of our window air conditioner and get a special heating and cooling system. Something about window air conditioners and mold?

Marry Now, Celebrate Later, Save Money and Your Marriage? - Blog Entry

My DH and I had planned on a small simple wedding. Of course my mom had to have her input. We planned on paying for it ourselves but my mom's ideas were too expensive so it was "if you want that than you pay for it" Basically she ended paying for everything and then intern got what she wanted! I believe she spent around 10,000$ Most of the cost was for the hotel. She payed for the hotel rooms for her sisters. We had the shower the week before the wedding and her sisters stayed that WHOLE week. To me it is a lot of money to spend on one day.

Quickly Becoming Obsolete - Part 1 - Blog Entry

I was just thinking, here in Iowa it will be a VERY long time before landlines and dial-up become obsolete. There are too many rural areas and small towns that don't have any other options. There are some areas where a cell phone won't work. I know of a few people who do have cell phones but have to keep there landline because of dial-up or DSL internet.

I must be a little old fashioned, I don't own a cell phone and never have! I don't have a MP3 player or any other gadgets expect my desktop computer and TV. We get our cable, phone (unlimited long distance), and internet for less than 100$ a month. I guess my phone is digital so that probably isn't considered a landline.
