Saving Money by Downgrading - Blog Entry

We fairly recently bought a second house which we are either selling or renting in three years time, so we had to downsize in other areas, we had to sell our Landrover which was a 1975 series three which was totally my baby, I miss it lots but here our small holding is well, alot smaller than what we had back home, plus it wasn't practical to drive it 7 hours here really, I miss here but there was no point in keeping her if she was going to sit outside and rust. So now we just have on vehicle. We have six dairy cattle that we are thinking of selling but we're having trouble finding a farmer that doesn't use milking machines and hormones, so it looks like they'll be relocating to Wales after christmas. We had Sky TV back at home but we don't have it here so that saves us £40 a month, which is alot of money. Ideally we would only have one house, but our house back home belonged to my grandmother and we have a tradition of keeping houses in the family so we are going keeps and then selling our new house.

Grant and Scholarship Advice for Homeschoolers - Blog Entry

10 Dec 2008 05:06 AM

Everyone applies for student grants and loans the same way here, you just send off both of your parents P40's which prove how much you earn per year and whether any children under 18 are being supported in the household. Then you get a loan equal to your tuition which is £3,145, then between £4,856 - £6,475 a certain percentage of this is a grant which you never pay back then the rest is loan which you don't pay back until you are earning £15,000 a year or over and it is cancelled after 15 years, though the year boundary is changing I think. Here we don't apply through school you get the form from your local council. We don't have scholarships here, you may get the odd reward like £500 cheaper accomodation for the first year if you put that university as your first choice.

We've seen two nice goats, she wants a purebred La mancha so she can breed with the one she already has, hers is a male so me and my dad are thinking of getting her both the females. We've had female La mancha's before their milk is soooo good, so it will be nice to be able to go home to goats milk again.

Why Do People Think of Marriage as Hard Work? - Blog Entry

08 Dec 2008 03:55 PM

What I don't get is when you have a couple that have been together a decent amount of time , 5-6 years plus then get married but its too hard work. The only difference between a marriage and relationship is a ring on your finger and a piece of paper you can either never find or is up on your wall. I really can't grasp why some people suddenly destroy their relationship once they get married.

Does your dog know how to shake hands? If so get him to sit down, then shake with his good leg so his bad leg is on the ground.

State College Costs Unaffordable - Blog Entry

Ouch here University is £3,145 a year at every university, if you are Scottish and go to Uni in Scotland its free and if you are Welsh and go to Uni in Wales it is £1,600. There is no reason what so ever to have very high prices.
