Do You Feel Beautiful When You Are Pregnant? - Blog Entry

23 Mar 2010 07:40 PM

I'd say I have mixed feelings. I've never struggled with weight issues, so it didn't bother me to "get fat" when I was pregnant. I knew it was all for a purpose and I think I got through my first pregnancy without any concerns about how I looked. But now being pregnant with my second, I don't think I feel quite the same way. My first left me with a lot of stretch marks, particularly on my legs. When I dropped all of the baby weight, my skin went crazy! Now I'm certainly not thrilled about donning the shorts this summer... and I'm curious what those marks (that were finally starting to fade!) are going to look like as I put the weight on again.

I try really hard not to get sucked into the vanity of trying to look like the magazines, but it's tough! I'll be going to the beach when I'm 16 weeks pregnant and I feel like everyone is just going to be staring at my "pregnant-or-too-many-donuts?" belly and yucky stretch marks. *sigh*

Morning Sickness and Gender Prediction - Blog Entry

20 Mar 2010 10:40 AM

I had very little sickness with my first pregnancy (a few mild waves of nausea, but that's all), and we had a girl. I'm now pregnant with #2 and am dealing with a lot more nausea already at just 6 weeks along! We don't know the gender yet, so no telling if the difference means it's a boy or just a troublesome girl! haha

What Type Of Newborn Mother Are You? - Blog Entry

19 Feb 2010 10:49 AM

I didn't mind visitors in the hospital (in small quantities), but I was like you in that I did not want a whole load of company. I also just wanted to hole up at home for awhile just me, my husband, my new baby, and my mom who was there to help. Unfortunately I think I offended my sister-in-law a bit when I asked that she, my brother, and their three children get a hotel room if they came up to see us rather than staying at our house. To this day (nearly a year later) she repeatedly asks if I'm going to be "overwhelmed" if they visit. Some people just don't seem to understand that some of us need a little space and time to ourselves with a new baby!

Under Wraps - Blog Entry

Hehe... I believed you until "I don't want to find out via means of a home pregnancy test. I am going to allow myself to be totally and completely surprised by the news." If you're anything like me, you'll be able to manage to shove it to the back of your mind no longer than a few days past when your period was due... then you'll dive for a pregnancy test like a woman needing a drug fix!

Pitocin - Blog Entry

28 Jan 2010 05:22 PM

I had Pitocin. I was nervous about it because my mom had 2 natural labors and then 1 with Pitocin and she definitely agrees that the induced one was more intense. But when the doctor told me I could either go home and labor on my own for however long it would be until I was in more active labor, or just get the Pitocin and roll with it at the hospital, I eventually opted to be induced. I had already had 2 sleepless nights due to early labor and had an induction scheduled just a couple of days later anyway since I would be past my due date... it was time to get the show on the road!

New Mommy Must-Haves - Blog Entry

Yes! Stool softeners are a must! I had absolutely no idea what going #2 would be like after having a baby and no one prepared me. I didn't have stool softeners on hand and boy did I wish I had! Next time around I won't make that same mistake.

My Decision To Stay Home - Blog Entry

22 Jan 2010 06:31 AM

Great post! I love seeing other moms who just simply prioritize staying home. You are right, it doesn't mean we couldn't use the extra income from having a job... it means we are willing to sacrifice where needed to make it work!

How Many Ultrasounds Have You Had? - Blog Entry

07 Jan 2010 09:30 PM

Oh wait... I forgot one! We sprung an extra $75 at 26 weeks to get a 3d/4d ultrasound done. I know it isn't necessary and is probably not worth the money, but I loved it! And it gave me one last chance to confirm that I was having a girl before we washed and put away 5000000 pink outfits and blankets!

How Many Ultrasounds Have You Had? - Blog Entry

I had 4 ultrasounds, though was only supposed to get 1 of them. I had one at 6 weeks after a bout of spotting, then another at 7 or 8 weeks because I was still spotting, then one at 12 weeks after a trip to the ER for MAJOR bleeding, and lastly the typical 20-weeker to take measurements and such. Happy to say that despite all the bleeding, I have a happy and healthy baby girl! :)

TTC: Should You Tell? - Blog Entry

03 Jan 2010 05:59 AM

I have an incredible inability to hide anything from my mom, and I am also a terrible liar! So when we first started TTC, if someone asked me when we were planning to have kids I couldn't help but tell them we were working on it. So yes, my family and any curious friends get to come with us on TTC journies. Thankfully we had no trouble at all conceiving our first child!
