How to Save Money on a Gym Membership

Save Money on a Gym MembershipIf you have been thinking about joining a gym, today might be one of the best days to do it. Many fitness facilities are slicing membership costs right now. Why? Well, there are the initial promotions for the beginning of the year, the time when most people join a gym. Many of these promotions expire January 31, but guess what? New ones should take their place, as fitness centers try to extend the rush of membership to get them through the rest of the year.

Here are some of the more popular gyms or fitness centers and the promotions that they are currently offering to new members.

Planet Fitness, which has locations across the country, is offering two great membership deals. For only $10 a month, you get unlimited access to your home club, a t-shirt, and unlimited fitness training. Upgrade to $20 a month, and not only will you skip the standard enrollment fee, but your benefits include reciprocal use of all locations, unlimited guest privileges, plus the use of hydromassage, tanning and total body enhancement. One real benefit of Planet Fitness is that these gyms are so easy to work with. Costs are clear up front. Need to put a hold on your membership? No problem. Decide that it isn’t for you? No problem there either.

CrossFit Centers are usually run independently, so the promotions and offers that are available can vary. Because these are usually mom and pop businesses, you can often get a good deal on your workouts just by asking for one. Don’t be afraid to negotiate. These centers know that with the popularity of the work out, there may be another facility just a few miles away that will give you a good deal.

Anytime Fitness offers almost 2,000 centers across the country, plus many clubs throughout the rest of the world. While they don’t publish membership fees online, you can request information through their website. Right now, Anytime Fitness is offering 50 percent off of their enrollment fee and a free seven-day trial, so you can decide if you like the gym before you invest in a membership.

Curves is a women only fitness center that is being promoted by Jillian Michaels. They will not give you a quote online or over the phone. You have to actually come in to one of the facilities, get measured, etc. I’ve been told that the Curve’s Complete program, which includes meal planning costs $13.95 per week. Curves is circuit training. You visit for 30 minutes and go through the various machines and routines.

Gold’s Gym is one facility that is on the expensive side, but it may be worth it to you because of all of the amenities and classes, including swimming lessons. The current promotion at Gold’s Gym is a 20 percent discount and a low enrollment fee for all members of the military, including veteran personnel. Locations are available throughout the country.
