RS/EQ: Studying for a Testimony - Blog Entry

Thank you so much! We are only a few days away from our due date, so I'll probably put in a longer disappearance in the near future.

A Moment on Modesty - Blog Entry

With our daughter (now 5), I 'outlawed' sleeveless clothing. My (LDS) MIL bought her a number of these, and my initial thought was to just 'let it go'. However, I started wondering at what point we would draw the line. For instance, how would I tell my 8 yo daughter that she couldn't wear sleeveless stuff while her 4 or 5 yo could?

That said, I don't think anyone would look down on you at church. I've seen lots of sleeveless baby clothes, and most people recognize it as a personal choice. For me, I just decided that I would save myself the later hassle.

Speed Homeschooling - Blog Entry

02 Apr 2007 08:21 PM

Great article. At first, I thought you were meaning 'speed homeschooling' like 'speed reading' - short bursts of tight homeschooling. LOL. I was very excited when I learned of all the kids finishing their studies earlier. The sooner my kids enter the workforce, the sooner they can support me, right? ;) But you make some excellent points, and I've had to force myself to be a 'low pressure' mom. My biggest goal is to raise them to love to read and learn. I figure they can take anything from there. Thanks for the great article!

Growing from General Conference - Blog Entry

I told dh that if his talk was on food storage, I was going to have to leave, because I keep recieving promptings to develop ours! LOL. But I was also thinking of all the opportunities my kids are missing without a garden or canning. Hmm, maybe I'll wait a little longer til they can do all the work... just kidding.

Thanks for the feedback, Valorie! It seems to be my highlight for the week. Maybe it means I need to start paying more attention...hmm...

Relief Society: Accepting Service - Blog Entry

06 Mar 2007 11:00 AM

I remember hearing a similar lesson many years ago. The point was made that, when we don't ask for help when needed, we deny others the opportunities (and blessings) that come with service. I thought that was an interesting perspective on it. Similarly, the RS leadership manual talks about allowing others to help serve so that they can learn and grow. Great post, by the way!

Treating Our Bodies as Temples - Blog Entry

I have always been a night owl; my parents are both the stay-up-til 2 a.m.-type. I really need to print, cut out, and post the scripture. Part of the problem right now, however, is that the only time I get to accomplish pretty much anything is after the kids are in bed! I need to do better about waking up early.

Young Men: Missionary Preparation - Blog Entry

I would also think that going out on splits with the local missionaries would be an excellent way to help overcome shyness and to help youth feel more comfortable about bearing their testimonies. It also provides some great "examples" to learn from.

Excellent article!

Treating Our Bodies as Temples - Blog Entry

One piercing for sisters; none for brothers. There is a great scripture in D&C that talks about going to bed and getting up early (I type at 12:02 a.m.). D&C 88:124.

LDS Vacations--Nauvoo, Illinois - Blog Entry

26 Feb 2007 10:39 PM

Thank you for the fantastic feedback! I am really looking forward to visiting some of the historic church sites now that we are living in the Northeast. Nauvoo will be a bit more of a drive than, say, Palmyra, but one that I look forward to! Thanks for the 'tour'!
