I write the credit card totals on the bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker so we see them multiple times each day. Each payday, when I pay the bills, I write the new totals, so they are going down. Having it right in front of us keeps us motivated and helps us stay excited. (It also made my husband say 'wow, I didn't know we owe so much' and get more involved and more enthusiastic, despite the fact that we had frequently discussed how much we owed.) There are so many resources available online, and I can't help but think about how much this will help my kids. I can only imagine how much more will be out there and available by the time my 5 yo is 18. I'm hoping that, at high school age, my kids will be able to pick up internships or PT jobs that relate to what they want (or think they want) to do 'when they grow up'. Surely that will help them to get a 'real' job as they grow up. However, we are (at present) planning to send them to college, though we may well see how things look in another decade. When I was a kid, I read and reread Genesis (I could never get past Exodus or Deuteronomy), and I really treasure the stories and lessons found in those early books.
