Don't Try This At Home: When Frugality Goes Wrong - Blog Entry

09 Jan 2007 10:51 AM

I heard a story of a woman who taught her kids to only go #2 when they went out (which they scheduled daily). They also did some kind of weird thing where they would shower at some public place, but I don't remember where. Those were the two that stood out.

Another vote for the 'no newsprint, thanks' gang!

A Quick Guide to Using Powdered Milk - Blog Entry

We did a gradual scaling with my kids, all under four at the time. I mixed it 3/4s powdered, 1/4 regular, then gradually decreased the regular. My husband and I don't drink it, but with three kids, it cuts the milk budget significantly. I also do a lot of baking with it and have never had any complaints; I'm not altogether sure dh noticed!

It definitely seems the law is unequal, but frankly, I doubt it is intentional inequality. I think it's more of a matter of the situation just not coming up very often.

General Conference: "The Law of Tithing" - Blog Entry

That's what I was wondering. I considered putting in the note at the bottom something like "tithing = $100, fast offering = $25" etc. Then again, my church doesn't charge, so I also thought about just sending multiple checks. But I'd be interested in hearing how blossy does it.

N2books, I am definitely grateful for them. They have brought some wonderful insights into my life, and given good advice. But I'm sure after nearly two weeks, we were some very stinky fish to them as well. :D

It is amazing what comes out when the library purges. I got several copies of the cassette tapes of Conference from the early 80s, which I love.

Another great discussion. My kids were so excited to get CTR rings yesterday from their teacher, and they haven't taken them off yet!

Taking Advantage of Local Exhibits - Blog Entry

I lived in Atlanta (Tucker) for a long while, and even living inside the city, everything was 30 minutes away! I am planning to settle in the country in a few years, but I will miss some things, like Fernbank and the kids' museum.

Challenges of Homeschooling Tweens: Dealing with mood swings - Blog Entry

06 Jan 2007 01:53 PM

Oh, I love that! "Moods are momentary, and math is forever!" I am looking forward to ducking and hiding through my daughter's tween and teen years, since she spends WAY too much time with my 16 yo SIL and loves to emulate her! Hopefully she'll do better as she gets older! Otherwise, I'm going to start looking for a chryogenic sleep capsule (for me) once she hits those difficult years!
