Funny Smelling Water and Cramped Showers

Yesterday I took a shower for the first time in the motorhome. Never fear, I wasn't not showering for two weeks. I've just been utilizing the bath houses at various campgrounds. However, at the campground we are currently staying in, I went in to take a shower the other day and as soon as I turned on the water, I realized it had an odor. Um, water is not supposed to have an odor. Plus, the shower area was very cramped anyway. A bonus to showering in the bath house is supposed to be that I have more room. Finally, my husband tod me the other day that he was pleasently surprised with how long the hot water in the motor home lasted - I think he said it was 6 gallons and lasted about 10 minutes continuously running. With all of that, I decided I may as well shower in a small stinky place inside my motorhome, and it went well. I took a second shower this morning. The biggest problem comes from my long hair; it takes forever to get wet, rinse, and rinse.

The other 'big' struggle, which I am losing, involves the cold. We went outside to play on the playground on Monday and it was COLD. It was about 37 degrees, and while we had warm, hooded coats, we didn't have gloves and we didn't have stocking caps. The hoods from the coats fell off continuously, and the kids' hands were like little red sticks or something. Hats and gloves were on the list, but I didn't realize they would be so cold so fast. We came in after about ten minutes, and Dawn and Mookie wanted to stay outside. They didn't care about the cold. But we came in and had cocoa, and they were happy. They love drinking the cocoa that Pawpaw bought them - it has marshmallows.

The 'me time' at the store is not working, by the way. I didn't consider the hassle involved in not knowing how the store was laid out. Every store is literally different, and they don't seem to have a predictable layout. Maybe similar chains do, and I'll figure them out, but I spent two hours at two grocery stores yesterday, irritated my husband for being gone so long, and came home tired and stressed. The good news? Michael was so irritated and thought for sure that he could do it faster, so he volunteered to take the kids with him, along with a mommy-made list, each week. Well, I can handle that. He is not inclined towards using coupons, but I may just give him whatever we need one of, and I'll do any stockpile purchasing. That should give me some time alone while he and the kids 'enjoy' the store. He doesn't think I need to sort the list by produce, meat, dairy, etc, because HE is able to shop so fast and effeciently. <shrugs> Fine, that will give me a few extra minutes and save me some extra work when it comes to making the list. I'll do whatever stockpiling necessary, but he can do the basics, with the kids. sounds like a win-win to me. And if I wind up not couponing, that is fine, too; it will be worth not doing the work. I may just avoid them until at least after the new baby is born.

So that's the basic layout for us now. Sorry for the sporadic writing, but we have only one laptop, and Michael keeps taking it with him to work because it has GPS, which he needs as he drives from unfamiliar place to unfamiliar place. The good news is that, yesterday, while I was asleep in bed, I ordered Michael's Christmas prsent online - a laptop, refurbished from Dell. He ordered mine at the same time. I must be magic or just really good or something. Also, on the technology scale, he made my Tivo work by setting up a wireless network via the computer. <three cheers> I was afraid we were going to have to cancel the the Tivo because we wouldn't be able to use it, but nope, we get to keep it!

Time for Michael to head to work and me to abdicate my time on the laptop. I have a few more fun things to write for blogs - I have several in queue but the blog 'boss' is very overloaded at present, so watch for them to appear as they are proofread. I am operating without a Word program, so I have no spellcheck - very annoying. I've been using the one provided for bloggers but it's annoying not to have the whole thing correctly formatted.  Anyway, I have another 60 ideas that I want to write on including some Christmas stuff, but I have to assault my husband and steal the laptop first. Well see how much blood is involved. <wink>
