If your calendars or momentos test with acid in them, the only sure way to safeguard them is to spray them with deacidification spray. I do not recommend laminating them because the chemicals in the laminant will eat the item that you are laminating. You could color copy them and print them out to use that way as well. Just try to keep them away from your photos when putting them on a layout and always purchase acid-free and lignin-free paper (it will help buffer it all).
