Kay thank you so much for sharing that. Women's retreats are amazing and can seriously help one begin to heal from a traumatic event. I am so happy you had that opportunity and that you shared it with us.

Great Cheap Halloween Costumes for the Truly Frugal Mom

11 Oct 2006 06:47 AM

My favorite costume growing up was one that I had for years. It was a dress on a doll I had that was seriously as large as I was. The doll was sitting in the corner of my room and was a strange raggedy ann style doll. I put the dress on and we added make up and hair and I was a raggedy ann doll. It was sooo cute!

Inexpensive and Easy Ways to Use Turmeric In Your Home

Turmeric is a strange spice. It's really better kept for cooking and dyeing things. Other than that, the bugs are the only other thing I find interesting. hmm....I wonder what other spices can do....

Exploring Missouri: Visit Tom Sawyer in Hannibal, Missouri

26 Sep 2006 12:50 PM

It was the best ever! We had five kids ages 7-12 and they LOVED every second of it. It actually got them all interested in actually READING Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. In addition our twelve year old gifted student chose to read JOAN OF ARC by Samuel Clemons (aka. Mark Twain). It was a seriously FUN history lesson and history is not exactly my cup of tea - but I loved it. Megan you ever come visit and I'll take you there!

Hold On To Those Teddy Bears

25 Sep 2006 09:29 PM

Ok Michele I realize soooo not funny, but I laughed anyway. How cute is this story. If you don't scrapbook, you need to print this article out and keep it in something for your daughter later to look at! Soooo funny! Hey - did anyone ever stop to ask the Beluga Whale if he liked Strawberry or Grape? :D I relize the seriousness of the whole situation, but making light of it after the fact, is often better anyway.

Oh and btw: I don't find the humor in the teddy bear sign - in fact I find it a stab at a probably already embarassed family. How sad really. But in some ways I can even find the humor in that....I must have a sick mind! LOL

Dilemna: What Do You Do When Kids Have The Day Off From School?

25 Sep 2006 03:38 PM

Excellent article Myra! My children are in year-round school (the only district in our area) and they are currently on cycle break (began Friday) and it's three weeks off. I was just discussing this with a church friend of mine. I am lucky enough to work from home, and my children are of good ages to entertain themselves, but what about those that work outside the home. And you think one day off is bad? I wonder what some of these mother's do when there is a cycle break. They often provide care around the area, but it's expensive and sometimes fills up really fast.

Anyway, I appreciated your article, because as I said, we were just talking about this very issue.
