Personally for myself, reading quality books helped me to write composition, poetry, letters in a beautiful, solid language. But copywork is very helpful in lots of ways. First for handwriting, trademark cursive (signature's of their very own),proper information being journaled for their use later, but most importantly for them to gain speed (possibly) taking notes, elsewhere, later in life. I have found that children write better when given college ruled paper to write their entries on and if you use a 3 ring binder to store all those years of writing in they love seeing the diference between years. I incorporate copywork into history lessons about different countries, by having them copywork other countries poems, proverbs, etc. They, then, love all the different facts they learn in different lands & retain them. Should Homeschoolers and Public School Children Play Together?24 Mar 2007 07:01 AM I am a homeschooling mom of 4 children ages 8 years - 17 years. I know that the homeschool meetings can be difficult to keep a working schedule that suits everyone, ours has disbanded due to this, though we still stay in touch. I do however agree that as tax payers we should be allowed to join together as a community, but I would never act upon it personally for my own children. I have known some homeschooling families that have done it here in Missouri and seem to enjoy it and everything goes just fine. It is nice to know people are getting more and more choices, though. I hope this helps Andrea. |
