Successful Sit-Down Dinner Secrets

22 Oct 2006 07:58 PM

When we held our bachelor dinner at our home, I found out that there are rental companies that rent china, tablecloths, all the essentials to hold a big party. My husband and I married late so we paid all costs. Anyway, our big hold up was the space on the barbecue. If you're barbecueing, consider borrowing a barbecue to insure you have plenty of space.

America's Most Haunted House?

What a great story for Halloween. I've entered houses where I felt seriously disturbed. But never one that was seriously, certifiably haunted.

Pretty good article on resume writing. One tip I was told is to put some measure of accountability with accomplishments i.e. the fastest at wrapping, won most congenial, etc.

Interesting article, Michele. To make money you have to spend some, was always one of the rules of thumb I never understood well. It helps to have it.

Stick To Your Discipline

Good perspective, Teresa. We've been discovering some of the same things lately. One thing we've managed to institute is a family meeting each night. We might not all eat at the same time, but by getting together, me and my husband are able to agree to a punishment, to rewards, to answers to questions the children ask and to hear about each of the kid's school day.

Walking - Is it better to do it incrementally or all in one go?

09 Sep 2006 09:52 PM

Thanks for the article, Heather. I walk quite frequently. I've found it helps to know how many miles each of our routes we travel through our neighborhood. We found out by driving the same path and clocking it on the odometer. We have a 1 mile, 3 mile and 4 mile route and the last two both have an uphill section.
